Barring injury, it's very possible. I know it's still early in his career and he has a ways to go, but the rate that he scored TDs at is astounding. He is able to do it all, from running, catching, and passing every now and then. Without him, the Chargers offense is questionable at best. Thoughts?

I dont know. I really like to watch LT play, and I like is attitude, on and off the field. There is no doubt in my mind that he is the best back currently playing. However, with that said, he must still continue to prove himself. I think that people have forgotten some other greats just because they dont play anymore. To be specific, Barry Sanders. Take these numbers:
He won the Heisman
He played in the NFL for 10 years
He went to the Pro Bowl every year.
He had over a 1000 yards each and every year
He had 803 consecutive carries without a single fumble
He rushed for 2,053 yards in 1997.

[1st] Most Games 100 or More Rushing Yards, Season - 14 (1997)
[1st] Most Consecutive Games 100 or More Rushing Yards, Season - 14 (1997)
[Tied for 1st] Most Seasons 1,000 or More Yards Rushing - 10
[2nd] Most Rushing Attempts, Career - 3,062
[2nd] Most Rushing Yards, Career - 15,269

[2nd] Most Game 100 or More Rushing Yards, Career - 76
[2nd] Most Combined Net Yards, Career - 18,308
[Tied for 2nd] Most Seasons Leading League in Rushing - 4 (1990, 1994, 1996, 1997)
[Tied for 2nd] Most Games 200 or More Rushing Yards, Career - 4
[3rd] Most Combined Net Yards Attempts, Career - 3,432
[Tied for 3rd] Most Consecutive Seasons Leading League in Rushing - 2 (1996-1997)
[Tied for 3rd] Most Games 200 or More Rushing Yards, Season - 2 (1997)
[Tied for 3rd] Most Rushing Touchdowns, Rookie Season - 14 (1989)
Now, Like I said, I really like LT, but he has some work to do.

No. He will start to decline now. Phillip Rivers is going to emerge as one of the top quarterbacks in the game and that will take away from Tomlinson. On the Chargers I dont see him winning and rings because their defense is too bad. Hes done great so far but has also taken a pounding. Look at recent players who had record braking years. Jamal Lewis after his 2000+ yards season hasnt been the same. Shaun Alexander got injured after breaking the then TD record. Players who consistently do great in the running back position also consistently get pounded. Why do you think Tiki Barber retired? He as already had his best season and his numbers will slowly decline until he hits 30 and then they will decline some more.

Three names: Bo Jackson, Terrel Davis, Gales Sayers
Barring injury is a big if especially for a RB.
Another three names: Barry Sanders, Tiki Barber, Ricky Williams
Does LT care enough to put his body through all that or is his life more than just between the lines?
Last two names: Antonio Gates, Philip Rivers
Although he is the biggest cog in the machine he still needs the supporting cast. The downfall of those two dudes would hurt LT immensely.

No one will ever be as good as Barry Sanders. Stick L.T on the Lions and see if he rushes for 2,000 yards when defenes know the ball is going to him. As for your question on the offense without him....they have arguably the best offensive line in the league, a all-star fullback, and other team players. Stick John Kerry in at running back and Pres. Bush at quarterback, and watch them score the total touchdowns the Chargers had last year.

Since coming into the league, he has been able to be a consistently dominant force, putting up good numbers year after year. However, I'd need to see another season or two as good as his last season before I'd hand him Walter Payton's crown.

The sad thing about football is that it just takes one nasty hit to make a season- or career-ending injury that he could never recover from. Likewise, if his blockers failed to perform at the top level, or if he was gameplanned against frequently enough to shut him down, or even if he doesn't live up to the hype he's built, then his shot at greatest all-time are shot.

He still has a long way to go to get to that level. I remember Chiefs fans just a couple of years ago saying the exact same thing about Priest Holmes. Nothing is a given. Longevity and a major injury free career are the key.

I love his approach to the game. That is how an athlete should act.

I think he will retire number 1, although the same was obvious for Bo Jackson. Only injury or a complete change of personality can stop this guy.

LT is a great running back but I do not think he is the greatest in NFL History. In my opinion he is not better than TD was before he retired.

Lt was the greatest running back last season though, I will give you that.

They used to say those things to Emmitt Smith.

But the difference is that Emmitt has Superbowl rings.

LT might be more like Barry Sanders when he retires.
