there isn't a difference....direct democracy is just a form of democracy.....

town meetings are a good example of direct democracy, it is when the people directly make decisions, aka should we buy a new fire truck or not...and then they vote on it...there is no one to represent them so it is only the people governing themselves....

the united states government is a form of Representative democracy.

Direct? I've heard the distinction between participatory democracy - where every decision is made by the entire voting public, with everyone getting one vote - and representative democracy, where a leader or leaders are elected by vote to make decisions on behalf of the voters.

Is that what you mean?

democracy and democracy. no difference. perhaps you meant representative democracy? right off the bat you become not a democracy but rather a republic. you've just given up any say you had in the way government works and the issues addressed. now opportunists are in position to sell your vote to the highest bidder. simple

we live in a republic you vote for people to state your case. direct democracy in varying forms implies you directly state your case.
