Yep, you can. If you are used to sleeping 8 hours or less a night, your body knows to recharge in that amount of time... It will be preparing (by slowly increasing your energy levels before you awake) for you to get out of bed and start moving around at the end of 8 hours. If you don't get up after 8 hours, your body stops preparing to awake , and goes back into sleeping mode. When you finally do wake up, it will come as a surprise to your body, so it will not have had time to rack up some pre-awakening energy for you to feed off of... thus making you more groggy and tired throughout the day than you normally would have been.

I feel that way too! I tell my parents, the less sleep I get, the better I am able to wake up in the morning. I sleep in late on weekends. It's SO hard to get up after sleeping too much. There is a certain amount of hours of sleep required depending on your age.

Your biorhythms are "tuned" to 6-8 hrs. of sleep or less. It sometimes is incredibly hard to "break the chain." A gradual approach to a set time to go to bed will work UNLESS you have a medical problem that keeps you from sleeping.

I think the same thing goes for food too. When you eat too much you feel terrible, when you eat less you feel much better. Within reason of course.

Yes. Specially if you break your normal routine you will feel that way.
