Assuming that reading minds was possible, it would most likely be a blessing. You would need to learn how to control the gift, however. Some people use their empathic skills to help others and I would imagine that "mind readers" would also do the same.

Reading minds is a curse, now that you ask of it.
I can't imagine that violating someone else's thoughts would do good for anyone except for the person who has that kind of ability. People who can read minds want to find out secrets, cheat, or get to know information that they shouldn't, therefore the reasons to why it is more of a curse.

I had to quit a job when I was in my early twenties because of this. My boss was going through a messy divorce and child custody battle. Every time he walked through the room I could feel his pain and just about burst into tears.
I have enough to deal with just reading my OWN mind. I don't need all the goings-on in everyone elses mind.

Curse... we can know so much just by body language... and the emotional barrage would be too much for an emotional barometer like me. I think being able to know what someone else was thinking would be too much responsibility and sensory input for this woman.

Curse. Would you really want to hear all the pain in the world people don't talk about?

I would find it to be a blessing because it'd be better than a lie detector test & it would also help me find the underlying emotions & needs of an individual which I might be able to help with. Ms. Fix-it, tends to be my middle name.

I think it would definitely be a curse. I can't imagine *wanting* to know what someone thought of me! Or how they saw me...that would be horribly crushing. I'd far rather keep my illusions!

Ha ha...i was just thinking this last night. It would be awful....just imagine not ever being able to have one nasty thought about your neighbor, your mother in law, or even someone in your family without them knowing it right away. That would totally suck!!!
