Think of your brain as a rubber band on an old toy airplane, the tighter you wind it, the greater the stress. Eventually, the rubber band snaps and nothing works right anymore. I don't think this is a gun control issue. I think this is an issue of this individual exhibiting a bunch of warning signs that people were either to ignorant or to callous to ignore. What pushes my buttons may not push yours and I can almost guarantee you that we would react to the stress in different ways. Unfortunately, this individual reacted in a sad and very tragic way. I don't know much about the story or I could comment better. There are those who would use this as a gun control issue, but they seem to miss a key point. In countries where most firearms are outlawed, the criminal element are the ones with the weapons. If an individual is determined enough, they will find a weapon that can do the job that they want it to do. I feel for the families of those who died today. Was this tragedy preventable? I would like to think so, but I really don't know. All I do know is this is a very somber day in Virginia.

This college shooting incident is bad, and so is ANY school shooting. The guy was probably not only a sociopath, but also a psychopath. When a mentally unbalanced person does similar acts, there is usually a counselor, psychiatrist, psychologist or family member, or friend that knew he/she was off base. When will they come out of the woodwork? I hope not to publish a book!!! 33 people were killed and 15 were severely injured. No, shooters do NOT have any feelings for their victims and they do not have common sense. The police will find out if there were additional shooters or just the one that committed suicide.

He obviously has some psychological abnormalities. I do not know for sure but am assuming this is a white male we are dealing with probably of above average intellegence. What is important now is that we eliminate him completely from our society. Understand that this tragedy is due to the actions of one man and that one man is to pay the price for his actions. His psychological state is irrelavant because it is uncurable. He should be evaluated in an attempt to study the lifestyle patterns he has not in an attempt to help him

What some of the other posters said. There are mental illnesses where a person is not capable of compassion, empathy, or remorse.

Feelings of remorse and common sense don't enter into this type of action.

He was a sociopath. So the answer is no, he didn't have any feelings, remorse or common sense. By definition, a sociopath doesn't believe that he or she has to adhere to society's rules.

Mental illness combined with a firearm. Mental illness with a knife or a baseball bat could not have done as much damage and ended as many lives. So what's the lesson here folks????

Maybe it had something to do with his ethnicity? Nah, Can't be that, can't be that he was a Muh... wait, I can't say it. Forget that, it had nothing to with his being a Muh... I mean, He wasn't even a Mu... I'm so sorry, I seem to be reverting to some kind of racist statement.
HIS ETHNICITY HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE SHOOTING!
Now I'm not saying he was a person of ethnicity.... No, I'm saying it doesn't matter anyway, So my answer is...
I HAVE NO IDEA WHY SOMEONE WOULD DO SUCH A THING!
Unless he was white, in which case his motive would be racism.
Does that answer your question?
