Sadly I am in your boat....long suffering Lion fan. I just dont see where they can do a lot better. In my mind considering the "talent" they currently have and the draft possibilities a successful season may be 6-10 but I wouldnt be shocked if they went 4-12. They did sign 3 linemen and traded Bly for Foster and Bell so the O-line should be better if only because at least these guys are new and dont understand the Lion stigma yet. Foster has largely been considered a 1st round fringe player (others would just call him a bust) and of the other guys they signed only Militalo has had any NFL success (but he spent most of last season injures). For all the money spend at receiver they are woefully thin after Roy Williams (Furrey had a great year but he was an unknown...he lacks the speed and strength to get off the line if teams decide to press cover him). RB is totally up in the air at this point between Jones injury and the quality of line play (even Barry Sanders would have a tough time getting yards behind the current line). The defense is abysmal for the most part, the linebacking besides Ernie Sims is maybe the worst in the NFL. Paris Lenon starting?...he couldnt keep a special teams job in GB (not exactly loaded with linebackers either) and he starts for us? The DB's and safeties are not good (Kenoy Kennedy may prove to be good in the marinelli scheme but the rest arent capable of the cover 2 scheme Marinelli prefers). So the talent Millen keeps claiming they have clearly doesnt exist, 3 different head coaches cant be wrong...could they?
As for the draft I think they trade down and right now if it is with TB they take Gaines Adams, if it is with Miami (seems like the best bet if TB can get the #1 pick from the Raiders) then they can go either Omobi Okoye or Patrick Willis. I think they are comfortable passing on Quinn for 2 reasons...1st is because they really like Trent Edwards (Stanford QB) and he should be available at their 2nd round pick spot and the 2nd reason is they wont want to pay the big bonus they would have to give Quinn if he went 2nd overall.
I would like to think they can turn things around but Millen hasnt a clue(blown virtually every draft pick he has made, the only notable exceptions are Williams, Sims and Cory Redding during his time) and his horrible judgement in free agency (has yet to sign an impact FA in 6 years besides Bly). Add in the Ford factor (they have been terrible a lot longer than we can blame Millen for) and if there is a light at the end of the tunnel it is very dim. Ford seems to not care about the fans as much as he values the money he makes off them....he claims loyalty to Millen. How about a little loyalty to us fans!!!!!!

The Lions are in a good place for the draft. They have the coveted #2 pick and will have some offers if JaMarcus Russell goes off the board first to the Raiders. If the Raiders choose Calvin Johnson, then they should run to the podium and pick JaMarcus Russell. He's a great fit for the Mike Martz offense and the Lions have a good line and an improved running game via the Dre Bly trade, which brought in former 1000 yard rusher Tatum Bell, who is just flat out fast. They need to focus the rest of their draft on defense. A slightly above average defense will get you four wins in the NFC Not Division. But the Lions are still rebuilding,so they're a couple years away. They'd rebuild faster if they didnt have that one man demolition crew in Matt Millen. I say they go a respectable 7-9.

They'll do about the same as last year. I'll give them the benefit if the doubt and say, 6-10. As far as who they should draft, the popular choice is o-line or QB, but I think with the moves they made this offseason they won't spend a first round pick on a lineman and I don't think they're gonna draft a QB first round either. I think they'll go with a DE, Jamaal Anderson or Gaines Adams. They will need a franchise QB, cuz Kitna isn't one and doesn't have a whole lotta years left, but I think the can get a good QB in the second round; maybe Kevin Kolb or Drew Stanton. One of those two should still be available. For the record, I'm a Chiefs fan.

They will do: pretty damn badly, finishing last in the league. They will draft Clavin Johnson, the right choice. Unfortunately, the legacy of Lions receivers, the poor play of the team, the depressing weather and city conditions, the disappointment of the fans, and the poor coaching and management will al do in his career. He will start strong, forming an effective receiving duo with Roy Williams, but soon all the things I mentioned above will cause him to get depressed and a promising career that could have been Hall of Fame worthy, had it happened with another team, with be forever crushed.
As for me, I am a Cowboys fan, with nothing against the Lions. The only thing holding you guys back is awful management, generally bad coaching, and guys who don't care anymore. It is hard to play well, though, when management brings in awful players, and then expects a weak coaching staff to make them good. When Mike Martz has good players, he is so creative that he can put together an amazing team. But he cannot do well with the bad personnel he has and he has no knowledge of defense.

They will not be going anywhere but up. They can't really do much worse than last season. I think that in the next few years, they will become an okay ball club.
Knowing several NFL teams are drooling over the talents of wide receiver Calvin Johnson, the Lions have let it be known their No. 2 overall draft pick is up for trade. They likely will trade it to a team targeting Wisconsin offensive tackle Joe Thomas.
Oakland has entered into trade negotiations with backup quarterback Josh McCown, who signed last season with the idea of being a starter, but lost the job early to Jon Kitna.
By the way, I'm an Eagles fan.

yeah you guys suck. McMillen, even though he's the best on the board, will take Calvin Johnson. If he turns out to be a bust (which he won't), McMillen would go down as the worst in history. But there is good news. You guys play the vikings twice next year. They suck even worse!
Go Packers.
