It's impossible to win a "war on terror" through force as this only serves to swell the ranks of our enemies. The only way to secure our own lasting peace and prosperity is to insure everyone lives in peace and prosperity.

Just to be clear on the facts, the US spends more than the rest of the world combined on death and destruction, but ranks outside the top 20 in charitable contributions as a percentage of gross domestic product.

In case you thought we already are charitable.

Good question about how to accomplish this.

First, abandon the fear based programming the makes us think everyone else in the world wants to kill us and take what's ours. This simply isn't true - you need to turn CNN and Fox News off and start an on-line chat with an Arab so you can find out they are a person just like you.

Second, quit spending half a trillion dollars on war. The US committed 2% of it's GDP to rebuild Europe after WWII, it was called the Marshall plan. If we committed 1% to ending starvation in the world we would be seen as a shining beacon of hope instead of the world's bully.

I see this remote possibility only after we have been brought to our knees.

Go give achmed the terrorist a hug and see what you get in return. I hope you like rusty knives and orange jumpsuits. Try out conflict resolution and diplomacy as the knife slices into your throat.
The world has always been a bastion of peace and love before the big bad USA came on the scene. I can't think of a single war or conflict before the rise of America. I guess the Ottomans, Romans, Huns, British, Spanish, and French never started any wars or conquered any lands.
Furthermore the USA gives more money to the rest of the world in private aid and US foreign aid than anyone else. Apparently this has not worked either since they still want to kill us.
Rome did not become and empire by having meetings. Rome became and empire by killing it's enemies. Still holds true today.

Number 1. The US is not bent on a path of global domination. I would like to see some of our compassion and generousity to be withdrawn from countries that do not support the US! Yes, that's conditional. As it should be. Work with us, and we send you aid. Not quite the way it's working right now, is it?

Why is it impossible to win the war on terror? I would say that's only true if you don't know the nature of our enemy. If we leave them alone, they will not just go home and play nice. Securing peace and prosperity is not compatible with just coming home and wishing we all could just get along.

You're just flat wrong about US charity. I don't have time right now to get you the links, but last I checked, we're easily number 1, in charity around the world. Private charities.

You're talking straight from the whacky liberal playbook! OMG, just sit down and talk? What are you talking about? Listen, here's the scoop, free trade works. Democracy works. We're not in Iraq to get cheap oil. Show me tangible evidence that we're trying to dominate the world?

Our military is strong, we do spend alot on it, and guess what, it's effective! Keeps the crazies in line! N Korea, Iran, etc.. Don't kid yourself.

The Democrats voted for the conflict because of the fact they have been lied to. No, they weren't given the comparable guidance that the President had because of the fact they don't have the protection clearance and get entry to to intelligence that the president had. They voted on the guidance that became into given to them, which because of the fact the Downing highway memo and lots different guidance like the Joe Wilson/Valerie Plame incident for sure confirmed. meanwhile, Bush refused to have a 911 value for rather much a twelve months. He would desire to have introduced the formation of a 911 value on 912! human beings think of that the Democrats are anti-conflict. bear in strategies, FDR declared conflict on Germany, Japan, and Italy, Truman dropped the bomb on Japan, Kennedy and Johnson have been given us into Vietnam, and Clinton bombed Iraq every day of his administration. additionally, the Hart-Rudman value of the Clinton administration informed Bush on day a million that Osama Bin encumbered and terrorism are the biggest threats dealing with usa. This document became into disregarded via the Bush administration, and Condi Rice did no longer even study it till 912. How do i understand this? because of the fact Condi Rice is a good pal of Gary Hart, and he or she informed him that a week after 911 over lunch. He informed us this tale at a small e book signing gathering.

Why just tell the U.S.? Or blame the U.S. for the war on terror. If you really mean it go to Iran,Syria Iraq and spread your words of peace, and see how far you get. I wish it were that easy my friend but thats just not reality. Man fought against man since the beginning of time. I know the United States and the free world need to win against these Islamo terrorists or we will all loose all of our freedoms and most likely our lives also. Which also includes peace and prosperity of any kind.

I don't agree. We are the world's only superpower and with a foreign policy based on compassion and generosity you can not maintain the Status Que. We should look after our own national interests which at most times might be at odds with those of others. Any other nation would do the same if they had the military and economic capability.

Sounds like you're a fan of the Care Bears. Sorry, the real world doesn't work that way.

In the real world there are people who want to kill other people simply because they don't worship the same god, or hell.. worship the same god in the exact same way.

Appeasement and apathy have NEVER brought peace.. not once. The only way that has historically brought peace is victory, and the more overwhelming the better.

The US is the most generous country in the world. It is very easy to say we want everyone to live in peace and prosperity
but you have given no answers how to do that! Would you care to elaborate more on that about what you would do?

You go talk to Bin Laden and, if you come back, tell me how he took your little message of peace.

Compassion like getting a guy with 35 years of entertaining millions fired for making a stupid joke? Compassion like constantly bashing the President, comparing him to Hitler? Compassion like allowing millions of babies to be aborted?

Tell that to the French in 1939.

Compassion and generosity gets you taken over by an invading power.
