a cover band is one that plays other musicians's music. A sure sign that they are a cover band is by what they call themselves. Usually, a song title of they band they are covering. Example: The Soft Parade (a cover band of The Doors), The Machine (a cover band of Pink Floyd)

a cover band is a band that plays song by famous or formerly famous bands. Like a band that only played Nirvana song and knew all of them would be a Nirvana cover band.
