It's big! The biggest dance of our school. But I don't know how to ask him. Any suggestions?

Ask him for his phone number. Depending on how that goes, you'll know if he wants to go with you. If he gives you the number and seems happy about it, then call him and ask him. (I assume you are nervous so this provides 2 ways to help you: first by asking for something else less important and second by asking through the indirect medium of the telephone.) On the phone, don't require an immediate response but imply you need to know soon because if he can't there's plenty of others who will.

Walk up to him. As I have gone to quite a few dances, I can tell you that from experience, almost all the kids are dancing in groups. Walk near his group (assuming he is dancing) and casual start dancing. Maybe bump into him a few times or something to make him recognize you. That might work. Then keep dancing near him, and if you want to slow dance, wait and just ask him. Now, if you want to fast dance, just dance near him for a song or so, then ask him! If he says "yes," then you dance and maybe hang out with him later, if he says no, well you see if you can dance with someone else. Remember though, have fun! If he says no, don't get yourself upset, because that has ruined one too many dances for me.

"Hey, wanna go to the big dance?" and then be prepared for the no. If you get a yes, great, if not, there are plenty of guys out there and one dance in high school is no reflection on whether or not you'll get dates later in life.

oh my god!!! what kind of girls live on this planet. do you know how many times I asked a guy to dance. be brave it is not the end of the world. go ahead and say "hey, shall we dance?" and then it is finished.

do you need help dancing? fast or slow? or asking him to dance? fill that in and ill give an answer either way

just aproach them and talk to them and suddenly pop it on them and say y'know about the dance well would you go with me. make sure that they do not feel pressured just ask em' if they say no then they were problay asked already. Hope this helped:)
