Is Liberalism caused by parents sheltering their children?

Every Liberal I know has a wealthy, but disfunctional family.

It is caused by regection of intellectual honesty and integrity.
LiberalISM starts out as relativism and prgresses to ultilitarianism.
Most liberals hang around people who are like minded and shelter themselves from people of other ideas. It is strange beccause they talk about free thought and do not practice it. They talk about tollerance but regect anyone who does not agree. very strange!!!

Hmmmm...I think people become Liberal if they are passionate about giving all humans equal opportunities: they have empathy for less fortunate people, like the poor, minorities and others without equal rights. Liberals value human life so much that they oppose the death penalty and stem cell research that could help people survive life-threatening diseases.

Conservatives are passionate about making money, almost at any cost. They can seem like they don't care if the poor rot and die, as long as they can keep on increasing their own capital gains and make more $$$$$. Conservatives are also in favor of the death penalty, further proof that they don't place as high a value on human life. They don't want anyone to get an abortion because they need all the babies to grow up and work minimum wage jobs for them someday.

Perhaps you're a bit sheltered yourself?

Most liberals I know (including myself) have been dirt poor at least once in their lives.
EVERYONE has a dysfunctional family these days so that probably goes for republicans too. But, I was raised very well and exposed to many different things - including Rush Limbaugh - at a very young age.
Usually, republicans are associated with wealth, but it is true that liberalism is much easier to preach than to practice - especially when you have the luxury of money.

If every liberal you know is wealthy, I think you just live in a wealthy neighbor hood. Usually the poor tend to be more liberal. As far as dysfunctional, that doesn't apply to politics. There are dysfunctional families from many backgrounds politically. It also depends on what you consider dysfunctional. I consider most evangelical families to be dysfunctional, since many of them have very little knowledge of things like science.

Well, clearly, you have been sheltered by your parents if all the liberals you know are wealthy. As for dysfunctional...I can't name a family that doesn't have that disorder in one way or another. People, by their very nature, are dysfunctional to a degree.

Sheltering children causes all kinds of problems...but liberalism is a new one on me...

You have got it backwards!

It's Conservatives who shelter their children from the REAL WORLD!

That is why a majority of them end up growing up to be hateful snots!

Being rich rarely has anything to do with it.

Face facts...most of the racism in this Country comes from the Conservative/Republican side and that is because the children are kept from seeing what the real world is like and most of them are taught to hate anyone who is not like them!

Liberals are the opposite...that's one of the meanings of the word Liberalism...to be open minded to all things and people of the world.

Unlike most Conservatives who believe...it's my way or no way!

Come to think of it, you must not know that many conservatives if you actually think none of them have wealthy, disfunctional families!

I think it has more to do with being born American. The USA has always been one of if not the most liberal societies in the world.Here you have freedom and LIBERTIES that are found in very few places on Earth.
It also has to do with educating yourself and developing the ability to think on your own.

You must come from a wealthy privileged home yourself if every liberal you have ever met has also.

Actually, liberalism is a genetically predisposed personality trait, most often passed on from one or both parents who are themselves capable of thinking independently, as well as responsibly, thus expecting others capable of achieving the same ability. Is your next question going to be, "Is there a cure for liberalism?"

No Liberalism is the result of people discovering and adhering to basic values and principles that are needed in the world to protect the common good.

One of the liberal values is that you should not degenerate to labeling and ridulculing the general nature of a group of people. You do them no justice, you do the world no good through name calling, and you need to try to raise your own consciousness to be more understanding of other people's perspectives, (even if only to know the enemy).
