How can you get rid of a (romantic) feeling, kinda like a connection you have with someone but you don't want to feel that way, maybe because you don't want to go down that road again for some time or maybe you want to enjoy your freedom for a while but the feeling and connection is still there?

You really have to actively start doing other things, getting involved with other friendships, activities and other people. It will take time but you can build a new set of rewarding activities that will help the feelings diminish.

I don't think you should close yourself off completely to possibly great relationships. Perhaps if you do decide to give it a chance, move slowly and just enjoy your time together. Don't feel the need to rush into anything. You can still have your freedom, but keep your eyes open for something that might be worth it.

You don't. You learn to live under a chosen set of circumstances. You don't necessarily get to pick and choose all your feelings. You can choose to love or hate someone, but physical attraction is not so easily chosen. I suggest that you choose love. You can also choose how you interact with someone. You don't have to get romantic, but love is appropriate for all people. Love thy neighbor. Act in a respectful and thoughtful manner. Keep it simple.

I don't think you can make yourself get rid of "that" feeling. If you see the person often it will probably get more intense. Maybe you should follow your heart and see where it leads you.
