Would you choose a highly stressful job, where you would have no time for leisure, hobbies, friends OR a relaxed job, working only four days a week? The stressful job is very well paid, the relaxed job is not as well paid. Which ONE would you choose?

For me, I would DEFINITELY choose the relaxed job. If I don't have any time for family, friends, and hobbies, I feel like there's not point in living!!! You have to have time for yourself or you will burn out. Take the lower paying job and enjoy your life. As they always say, life is short. Don't worry so much about the money aspect. Concentrate and things and people you love.

id take the low paid relaxing job. theres no point having a high paid, stressful job if you dont have time to enjoy the benfits of it. Also the more you earn the more you spend so you may not necessarily be able to save up. Secondly the more you earn the more the tax man loves you, so all that stress and less money! You can always manage on what your making. everyone starts on a low salary at some point and the more they earn the more they need to earn in order to 'pay the bills'

I think, I would pick the stressful job with high salary for a while. Meanwhile, I'll be banking all my money, and when I feel that I've had enough; find me another job less stressful, and with lower pay, but by that time, I will be enjoying the fruits of my labor. nini :-)

This seems to actually be a question of "Goals and Intentions"...If you make more money over less time to get to a financial objective....the HIGH paying job could be less stressful over the LONG haul, because you'll meet Financial Goals sooner!...A LOW paying job will have to stretch out over more time to meet that same financial goal---which would mean you aren't going to be liberated/retired from that job as soon as you could be from the HIGH paying job. Perspective is critical. What do you want as your goal? Lots of Money and eventually an economically comfortable LIBERATED existence in blissful "retirement"....OR no stress, a low paying job and the reality of the COST of Living going up, rents increasing, uncertainty of employment, exponentially more competition capable of doing a low paying job, no end in sight to the necessity to work....could you ever afford to retire? High Paying & Low Paying paint different external portraits, but there are some other primary factors to be considered...other than just INCOME/Money. How's your HEALTH? Do you have knowledge on money management? Even if you make a fortune and don't have the education or wisdom to manage the money, you could end up broke. What brings you fulfillment? Have you pursued higher education? How do you feel about being TREATED like a "low-wage earner"....Life is short and tomorrow is promised to no one, but you can pursue every legitimate advantage to enhance the odds of your having a satisfying and worthwhile career.....find work you love and you'll never "feel" like you're working ; get a good education and you won't have to solely depend on someone employing you or keeping you gainfully employed....Clarify your dreams, declare what you want and then pursue your vision with all you've got......p.s. there is "HEALTHY" stress, as well as that which is "unhealthy"....to be locked into a dead-end go nowhere job sounds like the ticket for a gloomy, dull existence that still robs you of your "Life Currency" and at the end, you have NOTHING to show for it......It's not the pursuit of MONEY, it's the practical and irrevokable investment of your LIFE Currency--you want it to add up to something meaningful...if flipping burgers or pushing a broom can do that for you, have at it!...If not, consider using the money you earn on a "High paying job" to find ways to DE-STRESS --Like a vacation in Tahiti, a trip to New York, an Alaskan cruise....can't do that on a low wage salary....did you plan on inheriting money to buy a home?....if you have to work....consider the REWARDS (or LACK of them)....Good Luck~

I once chose a high stress job for the good salary. It made me sick and disabled. I would never do that again. Once you get burnout it is very hard to recover. The money is not worth it if you can't even enjoy your life because of stress related illnesses.

I just left a well paying job that required me to work 60 hours/week with very little recognition or motivation. I loved the company and enjoyed my co-workers but at this point in my life (Im 24) it didn't allow me to do the things that I really wanted to experience in life. I quit and I started a job waiting tables in downtown chicago so that I would have time to go on auditions, spend with my girlfriend and experience a city that I love and enjoy this time in my life!

That would depend on how well you handle stress, if you thrive in stressful situations, then go for it! I am bad with stress so I would have to choose the lower paying job. May God Bless whatever you decide to do!

I've always felt that you can't put a price on peace of mind.

I am currently working at the more relaxed job for less pay.

The lower paying, lower stress one. What good is money if you have no time to spend it and no one to spend it on? Sure, I'd like to be financially secure, but not at the expense of my sanity and friendships and emotional well-being.
