I have problems with my internet because my when i type ipconfig/all in cmd it says im connected to sympatico.ca when my isp is rogers. Rogers said the problem would be fixed if i change my broadband connection from static to dynamic ip

1) Start->Control Panel->Network Connections
2) Locate your network connection (should be labeled at "Local Area Connection") and right click on it and select the Properties menu.
3) In the General Tab, locate the scroll area and select the "Internet Protocol(TCP/IP)" entry. Select the Properties button.
4) Change the radio button from "Use the following IP address" to "Obtain an IP address automatically". If you think you'll need any of the past values, I'd recommend writing them down or making a screen shot before doing this change.
5) You may want to view the Advanced options to make sure everything is cleared that you don't need. You might have some hard coded DNS entries based on your previous Internet Service Provider. Leaving them generally won't hurt things but to be clean, clear out anything you don't need.

Control Panel > Network. Right click your LAN connection, go to Properties. Highlight TCP\IP, click on Properties. Change to Obtain Automatically.

Control panel - network and internet connections - network connections - RIGHT CLICK local area connections - properties - click obtain ip address automatically, and obtain dns automatically.
