Virginia is a CCW state I would recommending packing heat anywhere.
Guys like this are not normal gun owners, normal gun owners need to stop them. A recent article in First Freedom discussed many things including our vulnerable school systems.
If you are a college student, go to a hand gun class and learn to use a firearm. Also be prepared to use it.
Don't let the commies give you the "Gun is the problem" the problem is the person. If people are not allowed to carry the nutcases can go on rampages without constraint. One bullet from a CCW holder could possibly have stopped this.

I guess there is so much one can do. From what I have heard on the news, some students did help out the injured and others tried to barricade the doors to keep the gun man from coming in, but he was shooting even thru the doors. I guess they could have tried to throw something at him, but it's so sudden and people get scare that no one really thinks about it. All that goes thru your mind is to escape as safely and quickly as possible.

you obviously have never been in serious gunfights.
Reports say that after the gunman left the classroom, two male students blocked the door. the gunman returned and when his entry was thwarted, fired 5 or 6 more shots into the door. Think you would have held your ground and kept him out? Two brave heroes did.

I doubt anyone would have the courage to intervene a crazy clown with a shotgun (or whatever). don't turn this around and make it look like the kids are cowards now!

i wonder that too... most likely cause if someones crazy enough to put a gun to your head- after allready killing a bunch of people... i would assume that they would realize that either they are gonna die.... or they can fight back and still die or get injured... or they can fight back and live.... so if you had to choose between dying or maybe getting out of there alive... i would think you would take the one possible chance you have. they could have thought of a distraction and then a bunch of people could have tried to jump him and get his gun or somethin... i dunno. but realisticly.... people don't ussually think through things like that when they are in a crazy situation ... i'm sure they were very scared and just completely hysterical... it takes an amazing kind of person to get the nerve to do somethin like that when they are scared shitless and there life is threatened... so they should have tried... and i would think that i should in that situation... but you never know what you would do in that situation untill you are in it.

I was just thinking the same thing. I could he shoot 31 people with out some one trying to fight back. If I knew I might die anyway well I sure wouldn't just stand there. If just 5 of them charged him maybe he wouldn't have killed so many. I believe he could have been over powered.

Grew up in a violent place, so I always carry a pocket knife with me. If someone is threatening my life, or my friend's, I would definitely take my chances.
However, in this incident, it seems most people died in a classroom. Inside classrooms(specially college classrooms), spaces are tight, and students can barely move. There is nothing much they could have done.

Unless you have been in a similar situation, I think it is very hard to predict how a person is going to react in any situation. This tragedy is still unfolding so we do not know who did what and when

If they had a chance to get him from behind...someone would have. Who knows how anyone would react in that situation unless you were there and its happening to you. Everyone had different circumstances.
