My first thought was: why is my country so violent?
My second thought was an image I got of an foreign student going completely off his rocker (for some reason Indian or Pakistani comes to mind - for absolutely no reason. I simply sometimes get an immedate image of something or someone and I indulge a fantasy I have that I have psychic abilities - then it turns out in reality that I was way off the mark...).
Then I wondered what was building up to make the person use violence to the external world to solve some violent feelings he was feeling in his internal world.
Bullying is a huge topic in American high schools and even the lower grades. I wonder if it is central to the pain in the lives of college students too.
In Great Britain, the traditional hazing rituals that have gone on for many years in schools there have a hierarchy of bullies preying on weaker students. Why is that country not plagued by this kind of senseless violence?
I ask myself, Why is my country, so bragged about, so full of its own importance, so violent?

Frustrating irony isn't it..? THe US military is spread all over the globe promoting democracy and standing up for all that is good in the world.. and something like this happens at home and we stop to question ourselves because of it.. Just like everything in the media, there is certainly a whole lot more to the story than we will ever know. I consider it an isolated incident from a disturbed individual with unfortunte circumstaces that coincidentally occured in the same place a year earlier. Just sad... everything about it.

That psycho isn't free anymore. He's dead.
Here I am in the US worrying about you folks in the Middle East protecting our country, and you are worrying about us.
31 killed, not counting the monster, so I've heard.
Each man’s death diminishes me,
For I am involved in mankind.
Therefore, send not to know
For whom the bell tolls,
It tolls for thee.
