You may have the physical condition called Season Affect Deficiency (SAD). It happens to people usually in the winter when there is not much sunlight. To feel good you need the neurotransmitters melatonin and seratonin to be in balance...but seratonin production is stimulated by exposure to sunlight. So in winters your levels could be reduced, which would make you feel sad.

My Canadian brother-in-law has this problem.

The common effective remedy is to use full-spectrum lightbulbs where you live and work. They cost a little more but you can get them at most hardware stores. They are harmless but they stimulate production of seratonin. Try it!

It's called Seasonal Affective Disorder, brought on by lowered levels of sunlight.

It has something to do with migration, as your ancestors have not been in the area long enough to adapt, and we all move around so much nowadays that it's easy to never adapt to it.

It rarely happens to people at the equator, but for instance if they move from the equator to Canada in the winter, they'll feel it a lot.

Lots of people are like this, you can just get a light for wintertime that you turn on when you get up, mimics the effects of sunlight. Talk to your doc if you want it(though you may have to ask a psychiatrist).

It is called seasonal depression. A good way that i have heard of to get rid of that is to go to a tanning bed or buy special light bulbs and sit under them for a little while a day. You get depressed because in the winter the days are shorter and as it gets cold you have less to do so henceforth you go through the depression.

The hours of daylight are at their shortest and what sun there is is low in the sky. Its cold and you are restricted to indoor activities and can't go outside. I also have a problem with there being a lot of holidays and excitement very early in winter at the end of the year, then followed by two of the coldest and hardest months of the year. I think the technical name for this is Seasonal affective disorder.

seasonal depression. there is a such thing but then again alot of peopel don't beleive depression is a clinical illness. in which case you would just say " boy i hate winter"
winter is the season of death
not the type of season where you would buy a new house or start a new hobby. winter sort of forces you to put things on hold. evaluate things. winter doesn't make you depressed, it makes you realize you are depressed.

SAD seasonal affective disorder.....there are many reasons for this but the biggest I know is because the nights are so long and days so short. Not to mention that they days can also be very gray, and cold.
Psychologically these things are uncomfortable and lonely. Human beings need light and and warmth, because we compare those feelings to love.

hmmm... all right but.... u know.. sometimes something happen when we are between 4-6. and we freezee.. You can't remember ,but u keep it in ur mind..
for example.... Imagine that u drive hummer to ur head when u were 5,(accidently when u play with that on that age). u cant remember it when u are 25, but ur mind keep it, so whenever u see a hummer, mind remember the pain(this is what happend for one my friend. this is not a far imagination).
Think twice, maybe u have some memmories on winter.

It's called Seasonal Affective Disorder or SAD. They make a special type of bulb you can put in your lamp for you to sit under for 20 minutes a day to ease your symptoms. Call your doctor or medical pharmacy for any further info.

this is an actual phenomenon in psychology, i forget what it's called though. but since you are inside more where it's darker, and away from the sun, you tend to become more depressed. in the spring in summer you are exposed to the sun more and therefore you are happier
