Nope, now I WANT a gun. I am a teacher, and I am terrified of this happening in my school and just having to stand there powerless, watching students die, until it is my turn...

Let's put it this way: You will NEVER be able to prevent someone who wants a weapon from having one. Trucks full of fertilizer are used to blow up buildings. Any child can sharpen a stick, and almost anyone with a little know-how can make far, far more dangerous devices.

Conversely, NO amount of weaponry will ever stop people from using it. The idea even sounds preposterous. Yes, if everyone was reasonable and logical this would be a good solution. But you know as well as I that it is not the reasonable and logical people we need to worry about here.

So guns aren't really the problem, and they aren't really the solution. Their only involvement in this issue is making it easier for unbalanced people to do unbalanced things. And while it MAY be worth the effort to make it harder on those unbalanced people, especially if not much is traded away in the process, don't kid yourself that it will bring it to an end... or even anything resembling an end.

Jim Jones killed 900 people with Kool-Aid, after all.

A terrorist attack? Where in heck did you get that idea? Sort of dismantles the rest of your argument, don't you think? If it was terrorists, then gun control would not help. Doesn't matter, though, because it was just another nut. No terrorism here.

That said, I support gun control. But if the thousands of other gun attacks that have occurred in the past 50 years haven't changed anyone's mind on the subject, the Virginia Tech thing isn't going to either.

People shoot guns, guns don't shoot people!
We cannot control something like this. If someone wants to shoot others, gun control is NOT going to stop him.

A gun is an inanimate object, it, the "gun" is NOT going to get off the table, run down the street and shoot people.

We need to notice the "signs" of individuals that are
"off-kilter" and see that they get psychogical assistance.

Terrorist attack, honey, terrorists don't have time for "small
stuff. It would not be a blip on the radar for them.
They want drama, they want fire workds, DRAMA, not 32 dead kids.

Right now, each of us can walk into Wal-Mart, go to the "gun section," select our weapon of choice, take the gun to the cashier, pay for it and walk out of Wal-Mart, with no questions asked. Ah, the American way, long may it live! Yee haw!

I am originally from a large city in the USA where it okay to have guns in the house. Neither my sibling or I, had a desire to go and "get the gun" and kill people.

Agreed. It wouldn't be such a problem if the gun control laws we currently have were properly enforced! Unfortunately, it takes surprisingly little effort to purchase one. And no, I don't believe it was a terrorist attack, but you never know.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO gun control....NEVER you will be sitting targets. No I don't believe it was a terrorist attack, I think it was just a sick kid. but if it was a terrorist attack then we all need to get armed and do so quickly....I will not be shot like a dog cowering in the corner. Anyone kills me with a gun will know he has been in a fight and will carry the wounds with him throughout his life ....if he lives that long afterwords.....

We have gun control in Canada. It costs a lot of tax money and doesn't work. So, you can take it from there.

i think we should enforce the laws we have before making new ones that we can't enforce and will only hurt the nonviolent.

those who are likely to commit awful gun crimes are NOT the ones that will be following our gun control laws.
