they dont hurt when getting them on, just a lil uncomfy and they scrape a bit but you can ask for some dental wax. You will get used to it.Taking them off doesnt hurt either. They do hurt when you get your wire replaced(tightening) but take a lil motrin (otc pain med)before you go to the visit and after warm water and salt, swizzle around in mouth for a while... Good Luck~

They don't hurt at all when being put on. The initial push when they put the things on your back molars (forgot what they were called) is admittedly a little uncomfortable. The first few days after getting the braces on will hurt because your teeth are literally moving inside your skull. Obviously this will be a little uncomfortable. After a few days, you won't even know they're there! However, when you go in every few months to get them tightened, they'll become a little tender again, but (again) this only lasts a few days. When they are being taken off, it doesn't hurt at all. They just take the wires off and then pop the brackets off one by one. You'll feel them come off. but it won't hurt.

They dont' hurt too bad, nothing that tylenol can't get ride of. I had braces for 4 years. I got them when I was in 6th grade. The tighting was really the only time i felt any pain at all and it was slight. The best part about them was being ble to pick the different color bands to have put on each month. HAving them taken them of was great. It's kinda like a relife to not have to deal with it anymore.

Theyre sore for a while, but it takes some getting used to. When I had them it typically hurt when they would tighten them, but other than that it should be ok. You'll be numb most of the time ne way

they hurt a lot the first week after you've got them put on.
and they hurt a bit during and for a couple days after each tightening session.
taking them off is the best part. it doesn't hurt.
mind you, i got braces put on when i was older (20's), so they hurt more. it would hurt less for a teen or preteen because the bones are softer and more flexible.

They hurt when you get them on because they are pulling on your teeth and that fells very uncomfortable. They hurt when you firlst get them on until you get comfortable to them and you teeth also feel different when you get them off.If you are just getting them on take a pain releaver when you leave your house to go to the othroadontist it will cause the pain to not hurt as much. Also dont eat solid foods until the pain stops.

They don't hurt to get them on or off, but it hurts when you go for your monthly visits to the dentist to get them tightened. And the very first time you get them is the worse, because you have to get used to these damn metal things sticking out from your teeth and sometimes they cut your lips. When I got mine, my dentish also told me that I wasn't allowed to chew gum to avoid them getting stuck in the braces (but I used to have gum anyways! LOL Ssshhh... don't tell.) But, it's worth it. Your teeth will look beautiful in the end! =)
Good luck!

Well, it depends if you need to pull out any teeth to make room for the thing AND that's not the end, the whole time you have it, they tighten it , I think once a month. Well, it's not that bad.

i think the worst pain was when they took them off and when i use to go get them tightened every month!
sometimes though if you have to get them put on in the back, that hurts alittle too because they have to place the bracket over your tooth and down into the gum area.

The quick and easy answer... yes and no. You'll be a little sore once they go one, but that soon passes. You'll also be a little sore when they tighten them. Otherwise, its smooooooth sailing..
