Does anyone really appreciate his play the way I do? He's been my favorite player for many many years. The way he parks out front and does not budge. He single handedly accounts for goals without even touching the puck just by his presence. He takes defense men away from the shooter just trying to get him out of the way.His play is un-matched in the N H L.Does anyone agree?GO WINGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The way he seems to have an opposite pole with the crease is amazing!

I played against teams that park a guy in front of me all night. It is so hard to play against because you just can't see the damn puck. Guys like Holmstrom drive me crazy. Thank god he is a wing or I would have to kill him!!!

I think even the team may under appreciate him.
I thought He could have been named captain but I can understand Nick Lidstrom getting the call. But shouldn't he be an assistant?
I don't think the Wings would be a third as good without him. The rest of the wings are skill/finesse players. Holstrom does all the dirty things that keep the Wings going in the right direction. If not for him you wouldn't be able to see the full skill of the other players. His nickname should be 'The Mathematician' because he is such a force multiplier. I think he is awesome.

The Wings' power play would not be nearly as good without Holmstrom. Often, the area right in front of the goaltender is considered his 'office', and whenever he is in his office, any shot toward the goal will be affected by him, whether if he tips the shot or he just screens the goalie. Most of his goals are by tip-ins, so the man in superb in that respect.
Of course, I know about him because I am a Wings fan, and he is rather underappreciated throughout the league for what he does so well.

Out up more goals, he had like 29 or 30 goals this year. Try deflecting slapshots at 95 MPH, when you are 3 feet from the net, and see what happens, its not so easy. Homer has a heavy shot from outside, when he gets the chance to take it, but its not too often. I like the way, he goes behind the net to get the puck, slows things down, dumps it over to the guy on trhe boards, or the point, and jumps right back in front before the shot comes. He reminds me of Dino, in the day.

He is great.
Without him the Wings wouldn't be half as good.
Every game, every shift there he is in front of the net battling.
Can you imagine the bruises he has on his body after a game?!?
When Lidstrom was stuck on 199 goals, trying to get that 200th, I don't know how many goals 'should' have been Lidstrom's but there was Holmstrom getting a piece of it!! It was funny.
There was like at least 5 goals that at first were given to Lidstrom then changed to Holmstrom.
It was funny when Lidstrom finally got his 200th. After Lidstrom scored Ken Daniels said "Was Holmstrom anywhere near the net?"

there are many people that notice what he does, the whole redwing organization, all there fans, and all the goalies they face. he is one of my favorite players because of this. maybe when Hasek leaves homer should get the nick name the dominator, because that is what he does, just in front of the net and not between the pipes. i still think he should definantly be wearing an "A" on his jersey. and chances are when chelios leaves he still wont be wearing one because i can see datsyuk getting that, which he rightfuly deserves it also.
there is not another player in the NHL that i would rather have on the team, doing what he does, he is a vital part in the success of the team...i'm glad you posted this, i've thought the same thing for years,
Go Wings, and go holmstrom!!!!!!!!!!!

The Demolition Man Tomas Holmstrom is the most underrated player in the NHL. Only the players and Wings fans appreciate what he does.

I've seen some great pictures of Holmtrom basically face to face with goalies. I couldn't imagine having to deal with that on top of all my duties as a goaltender. He takes plenty of hits from pucks and angry defensemen too. You need to be physical for that posistion, and yet Homer doesnt take dumb penalties there often. Really and honestly a great player.

Homer is great - he's one of those guys like Maltby and Cleary that fans outside of Michigan have never heard of but the other teams know all about them. He'll be hoisting the cup over his head this year and people will still be asking, "Who the hell is that?" but the real Wings fans know he's a guy you must have to win it all.

homer is one of the most underrated players in the league he get the crap beat out of him with little chaepshots in front of the net, but he RARELY gets penelties for goalie interference. but what alot of people really dont no is that he has incredibly good hands i love when he has a break away.
GO WINGS close out the flames!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
