The constitution was written in an age when the authors were imagining guns that took three minutes to load and fire they couldn't imagine the weapons that we have today. Further the society that they were trying to establish was a Yeoman farmer society not the urban one we have to day. Finally, it has been proven time and time again that guns are not safe and countries, like Canada, have lower crime rates because there are no guns.

Yes- it is time for us to begin working on gun control again- unfortunately, as another poster observed, while white men are still in power it aint gonna happen... Maybe we'll get lucky and that responcible gun owner Cheney will take'm all out hunting...

First we should lobby all state legislatures to make killing people a felony.

Oh, wait, it already is? Then exactly what good will banning guns do except to take away MY right to self-defense?

How about we just honor the 2nd Amendment by allowing those who enjoy the right to keep and bear arms to do so on college campuses. When Florida (my home state) passed a conceal-and-carry law, the violent crime rate in this state dropped precipitously.

At the same time, the federal government made it illegal to possess a firearm on a public school campus, and various state legislatures did the same for colleges and universities. Virginia Tech made it a violation of school policy, punishable by immediate expulsion. As a result, criminals in Florida know their next victim might be armed, whereas criminals that target schools know that everyone there is an unarmed sheep.

And as for European countries? They took firearms away from the Brits, now they're trying to take away knives and swords because those are the new weapons of choice for the criminals. How sad, especially in light of the fact that the violent crime rate in Britain has risen steadily since the gun ban.

Criminals should be afraid of us, not the other way around.

P.S. Thanks for waiting over 12 hours to dance in the blood of the victims.

Obviously the illegality of shooting people did not stop this mad man from his crimes. So how would one more law have made a difference in this outcome?

The european countries have had gun control laws for a long time, it was easier to control an unarmed nation then an armed one. Thats why Hitler and countries that had royality found it better to have unarmed citizens.

To take 32 lives and turn them, in less then 12 hours, into a political example is heinous. Le the families mourn a little before you force your beliefs on the world in the name of the victims.

The School was a gun free zone. Another shooting happened on the campus two hours prior. The students did not act when a gunman chained the door shut. Dozens of people complied when told to lay on their stomachs.

IF one "criminal" violating the gun free zone had been in the classrom perhaps things would have turned out better. We have not stopped illigal drugs or immigrants. If I hand my guns in when ordered by the Governement; would the criminals?

The right to bear arms is a constitutional right. It is intended to protect us in case our government goes bad. Think on this. If everyone had the proper training in the use of firearms, and were allowed to keep them on their person, would anyone in their right mind pull out a weapon and start shooting? They only shoot at the defenseless. The shooters probably broke the law!! Shame on them. Reason it out, If guns are outlawed, then only outlaws will will carry guns!!

each physique is naive to think of that once the ninety's (or 80's, or 70's or 60's), reliable musicians all of sudden grew to alter into non existent. authentic, a super majority of prevalent rock song isn't all that super, this is boring, unoriginal and demanding, in case you go searching slightly and don't remember on MTV to tell you what to hearken to, you will discover some remarkable expertise.

I hope not. Determined murderers will always have access to weapons, legal or not. Too bad some of the students were not armed!!!

In Florida when concealed weapons were legalized, violence went down somewhere between 10% and 30% I can't remember specifically. Those who will use firearms in an illegal manner can acquire them in an illegal manner. Stopping the average citizen from owning one does no one any good.

PS: I don't own a gun.

wow, i knew it wouldn't take long for this question. it is 22 dead students, which is a horrible tragedy. but do you honestly think that if guns weren't "legal" this maniac wouldn't have found one to do this anyway? how naive are you? wow. if he couldn't get guns because Americans made them "illegal" don't you think he would have just looked up the recipe for a bomb on the Internet? if someone is desperate, it doesn't really matter what is legal does it? were the students wearing ceremonial head dresses?? because your cowboy and Indian analogy is ridiculous. if you don't like bush, fine. but just because you are too scared to own a gun, don't blame every shooting on him.

thanks for posting this, i really needed to get this out. lol

stopping the sale of guns will not stop crime or gun releated deaths. it will just ensure people are vulnerable.

If you want real actual change then we need to make punishable by death selling large amounts of weapons of any type except to the government.

The main problem is not the guns it is the dealers who sell 50 handguns to one person knowing they will enter the "Iron Pipeline" and become illegal guns, and the people who are allowed to buy a vast amount of guns in 1 sitting
