I like Borders, and I live a few blocks from one so I visit it frequently. It's nice and it does what it purports to do.

However, I completely disagree with the idea that there are no more "mom and pop" bookstores! There are still tons out there-- both for new and used books. I love getting to know the owners, browsing through less mainstream offerings, and getting tips from friendly regulars.

Borders is a decent chain, but I much prefer the more intimate setting of a small store!

Not much choice these days, it's usually either Borders or Barnes and Noble. Then you have Amazon on the internet. The days of mom and pop family owned book stores are long gone.

No, not really. I like used bookstores or Barnes and Noble better. B+N is better organized, as well as a bit cozier or something. It seems to have a better selection too, IMHO. Kudos to Borders though for dividing the ya and children's sections into types of books- so much easier to find things!

Nope... I love old used bookstores much better.

They are old creepy and have the best antique books ever!

I hate new, loud, noisy, intrusive commercialized places... I do love Borders but only at night when most of the riff raff is gone for the day...

No, if i was going to chose a corperate book store then it would be barnes and noble. Other than that, i like private owned book stores. they have great selections and you help support the community

I don't really have a preference... As long as they have a decent sized fantasy section I'm set. :P But I do go to used bookstores to get books for school.

Of course not. Find a bookstore where the employees can and do read. If you ask about an author they know who he is, what he wrote, availability etrc.

No! I get my best prices from amazon, esp. with my amazon credit card. the discount from the credit card when it applies more than makes up for shipping, and i find amazon cheaper than b&n and other similar chains. i did a search for xmas gifts and did very well by amazon.
