I totally agree that gun laws need to be toughned, but not because guns are dangerous because if they were that dangerous cops wouldn't be aloud to carry one int he back pocket, it's because stupid people with guns are dangerous

Again, toughen the gun laws all you like. The only ones that it will prevent from getting guns are the law-abiding citizens. The criminals tend to ignore the laws. The gun laws are no different.
Instead of tougher gun laws, make guns so they can be traced. Make someone accountable. If it is stolen, then someone might report it stolen if they stand a chance of being convicted of murder due to their gun being used.
Want to stop the guns being used in crimes? Figure out a way to make it so the criminals can't get the guns. Unless you are clairvoyant, it will NEVER happen. I don't like it any more than you, but it is the cold, hard truth.

Actually it is 32 families now, and I think if the laws were enforced more often, there would be fewer guns used in crimes.
The gun laws are fine. Just enforce them and keep the people who use them in prison.
I think using these deaths to make an argument for gun control before all the facts are in, is an insult to the victims and the way they died.

Stricter gun laws would not have prevented the killer in the VT tragedy from acquiring a weapon. If he was determined enough to actually perpetrate this heinous crime, he would have found a way to purchase one on the black market, the same way a dope fiend can always find their next blast, despite the fact that drugs are illegal and billions of dollars are spent on fighting them. Gun laws only take guns out of the hands of law-abiding citizens because criminals can find them regardless.

Making gun laws tougher will only make people want to do things like this more. Just like when alcohol was illegal, people went out of their way, and caused more crime to get what they wanted.
If we make things tougher, more crime will come from it because people will go out of their way and do things that they normally wouldn't do just to get a gun, etc.
Plus, the people who use guns for hunting, and recreational reasons would be hurting from all of the crazy people out there who do things like this. It's not going to change anything.
Maybe security in colleges of all places needs to be toughened. Ever thought of that?
Or maybe giving criminals a much harder punishment, I'd love to see that happen.

Why can't you realize that the gun laws that we have in place already would work just fine if it weren't for candy-@$$ed liberal judges who insist on letting criminals who use guns off with a slap on the wrist? Why do you insist on blaming the guns? That's about as intelligent as a fat person blaming the food -- is it the food's fault or is it the fault of the person who eats more than his/her body needs? The plain fact of the matter is this: Law-abiding citizens, who make up the vast majority of gun owners, don't commit crimes with guns -- they use them for recreational target shooting, hunting, and home defense. That's all. So stop blaming the inanimate objects and START blaming the inconsiderate human beings who don't use them properly.

Make them as tough as you want.
But you will have to pry my cold dead hands away from my gun to take it away.
Hey I got an idea! How about treating the true criminals like they broke the law and locking them up for longer to keep them out of the society where they have already proved they can't exist without causing probelms and breaking the law.

It's Virginia...NOT West Virginia.
Just for the record, tougher gun laws aren't going to bother anyone that will kill 31 people much.

Virginia Tech spokesman Larry Hincker was happy to hear the bill [HB 1572] was defeated. "I'm sure the university community is appreciative of the General Assembly's actions because this will help parents, students, faculty and visitors feel safe on our campus." 01/31/2006.
How can we with people like this?
