my mom told me the only thing thats stopping her from letting me get my lip peirced (or monroe peirced) is because it's "dangerous"
can anyone give me a few positive things about peircings that i can show her to prove they aren't all dangerous if i get it done right?
THANKS :D

(please don't say "EW DONT GET YER LIP/MONROE PEIRCED THATS GROSS!") thanks!

I don't care if it looks bad.
I don't care if you think they are stupid.
It's my body, I will do what I want with it.
I just need some information about facial peircings.

of course there are risks associated with just about everything in this world, including piercings...there is the chance of infection if u don`t properly care for it or are careless...but, if u go to a reputable professional to have it done & follow the after-care procedures properly, that will minimize the possibility of any problems arising...i have 14 total piercings & have never had any problems whatsoever!!! just be sure to research your various local piercing professionals, check out the shop where they work to verify that it`s a hygienic environment & that they use the proper sterilized tools, ask questions, etc...it might be a good idea to have your mom included in all of this investigative research...maybe it will help show her how serious u are & that u are responsible enough to thoroughly research the process, instead of just doing it on a whim, at the spur of the moment...also, your mom can ask questions of the piercer to resolve any doubts she might have, or whatever...heck, invite her along to see u having it done, it might make her (& u!) feel more secure to witness the process as it`s happening!!! good luck!!!

the only things that could be dangerous about a lip piercing would be infection or in some cases after several years, it is possible to cause damage to the teeth/gums if you have a labret that is constantly rubbing up against them for years and years. basically it is safe as long as ou are careful and go to a reputable place. a lot of the dangers come from people trying to do it themselves, there are nerves and veins in your face that you could hit if you don't know what you're doing but again, nothing to worry about if you get it done by a pro.

i've had both before. they both cause teeth and gum recession that can't be reversed, no matter where they're placed. and your dentist will probably give you a good talking to about this.

but if you just have to have it, play up the "i can take it out, it's not permanent" card because well, it is dangerous to your oral health.

Yes, it's dangerous.
There is a lot of bacteria in those areas which can cause infections.
The human body is much more beautiful than any jewelry or tattoo that one could imagine.

I do have to say that it causes many problems with teeth. Most people like to chew or play with their ring but it can cause a lot of trouble for your teeth and gums.

In my experience, i do not believe they are dangerous. i have my 6 lip piercings, 3 eyebrow, and one between the eyes. none have ever got infected or anything.
