Ginger ale is an old upset stomach remedy. It's pretty effective, too. Sip it slowly.
Ginger tea is very good for an upset stomach. Here's how to make it:
4 cups of water
2 inch piece of fresh ginger root
optional: honey or stevia and lemon
Peel the ginger root and slice it into thin slices. Bring the water to a boil in a saucepan. Once it is boiling, add the ginger. Cover it and reduce to a simmer for 15-20 minutes. Strain the tea. Add honey and lemon to taste. You can use stevia instead of honey to sweeten it.
If the tea is too strong for you, mix it with some apple juice.
Powdered ginger in capsules works too.
I also use crystallized ginger. It does have a lot of sugar in it, but it does settle your stomach down pretty fast. You can get it in the spice section at the grocery store. Ginger is hot, though, so don't start chewing on a big piece of crystallized ginger--start off with a smaller piece!

Ginger ale does help settle an upset stomach, and more so than other carbonated beverages. While you would get *some* benefit from any carbonated beverage, the ginger is known to help with nasea and upset stomach. It is best, though, to get a good brand of Ginger Ale that actually contains ginger. Some of the "ginger ales" are just flavored, and that is different - because you're not getting the benefits of the ginger. Reed's Ginger Brew is a good one. They also make a good Ginger Chew Candy that helps me with morning sickness, and my son uses it for nasea and says it works for him as well.

Ginger is more for motion sickness. You can get candied ginger but my son used to just chew a little of the root. Chamomile or thyme tea is good for an upset stomach too.

I crush a few peices of fresh ginger and add it to a glass of warm water when I have an upset stomach. Ginger Soother, if you can find this drink, is great in a pinch. You may also want to look in your local natural foods store for ginger candies.
Avoid cola syrup, too much sugar and caffeine.

Hi Rock Gir, you can try sucking on crystallized ginger candy or make ginger tea by pouring hot boiling water over chopped ginger and also add brown sugar to it. Ginger works great against motion sickness as it absorbs acids and blocks the nausea in your gastrointestinal tract.
You can would like to try other natural cure;
Eating couple of olives on the first suggestion. As olive contains tannins to make your mouth dry and it does not trickle into your stomach which can make you nauseated.
You can also suck of lemon to prevent this problem
