Or, how can we help keep our kids safe at school? I think all classrooms should have locks on the inside, so a teacher can close and lock the door, and they need to have a panic button and an intercom available. My mom is a teacher, and she says she cannot even close and lock her classroom door from the inside.

When are companies, schools, and the government going to get their act together and take the necessary precautions to deal with these types of incidents?

We can make it more difficult for someone to harm us, but I am not sure if we can totally keep our children safe. What has happened today at VT is so sad. We need to become a nation that learns how to pray and depend on the Lord for guidance. Divine intervention can help deal with the minds of those who are led to do such horrific acts. Some will ask why God allowed this to happen. I ask what have WE done to allow this to happen? Do we not take care of each other enough? Do we not pray the right prayers? Just what are we doing wrong?

schools should also have lock down drills. My school had that this year so we practiced what to do in case an intruder enters the building. The problem is we didn't have any drills in the case of an insider (student, teacher, staff, etc) shooting.
