Have you ever had a false positive?
Was it repeatedly with the same brand?
If so, what was the name of the brand... and digital or chemical?

I keep getting false positives with the Clear Blue Digital test. This has happened 6 times!

The false positives I have gotten must have been faulty tests? I go to the doctor after two positives and get blood tests which are always accurate. It's just so frustrating to me. Clear Blue Digital keeps informing me to go to the doctor every time I call with questions about false positives and recalls. They seem to think that I don't want to believe that I am pregnant? I dunno.

Just so there's no confusion about operator error... I've also gotten false positives at the doctor's office. No miscarriages, no abnormal hormone levels to speak of...

I would call the number on the back of the pregnancy test, I have not had a false positive, but I do have some questions about some of the pregnancy tests that are out there!

If you really want to know, just go to a hospital and take a blood test, or a pregnancy test, some of the hospitals have free blood tests and free pregnancy tests to see if you are pregnant or not.

I would make an appointment with your doctor for a blood test and a pregnancy test, just to put your mind at ease!

There is nothing worse than the what-ifs!!!!!

The chance of getting a false positive is usually less than 2%. However, that does not include operator error or a defect in the test itself. I personally have never gotten one, nor do I know anyone personally that has gotten one but I have had people come in my office with one before...but rarely. If you are to take more than one test, it should never be the same brand if you are questioning false positives. Also, you should find out the accuracy of the brand you are using.

There are no false positives. More than likely you are doing something wrong.

Before anyone gives me a thumbs down please read on.

For the pregnancy test to read positive there has to be a certain hormone in the urine(hCG). hCG is only present when your are pregnant. So, if you believe you are doing the test right and still get positive and then get your period, try a different brand. Other wise maybe you should discuss this with your OB to be sure that you did not miscarry.

There really isn't a true false positive. You need to make sure that you are not having chemical pregnancies and such. I suggest that you have your obgyn do a exam and tests to make sure. If a test is coming back positive then there is a reason and that is there is hcg in your system. Hcg is only caused by pregnancy and some types of tumors. So there is a reason. Good luck!

Not to be rude, but how do you know they are false positives? Have you called to company to complain? I know there have been recalls for certain brands because they are giving false positives...I read about one that gave a positive to her husband and the kitchen sink=)

That is a well-known issue with the digital tests--
