Control Panel > System Icon > Advanced tab . Start and Recovery Setting button
There will be a box near the bottom un can uncheck which says "Automatically Restart" (or similar wording as I am looking at XP, not 2000 at the second)
Uncheck that box
When this is checked, any time your computer would normally display an error message, it will reboot instead. So you never get to see the actual error.
This may NOT resolve the actual probem. But what it will do is make your computer display the error so that you can then fix the problem rather than just reboot the computer.
Hopefully once you see the error, you will be able to fix the problem....

Three possible problems:
Excessive heat: if there is a lot of dust in your system, especially on the video card or CPU, it could be overheating. Open your computer and get a can of compressed air and blow the dust out of everything.
Drivers: your graphics or sound drivers may be causing conflicts with the operating system, causing restarts. Download the latest drivers for your graphics and sound systems.
Power supply: your power supply is not providing enough power to your computer during games, causing instability that leads to crashes and restarts. Check the rating on your power supply and make sure it is enough for the parts in your computer. If your power supply is old, it may be failing over time.
Try to fix the problems in the order I presented.

certain games are not to be played with because of viruses and trojans they can make your computer slow or even crash like what happened to your's i am not saying that you have virus but if you do, restart the OS (operating system) which would be win 2000 and then pick some safe games that are rated that you like

you have wiped sparkling it, yet do each and every of the followers paintings suitable? (CPU, Video card, Housing) Overheating may well be the top suspect. different difficulty may well be a RAM blunders. in case you have 2 or extra memory banks, attempt taking them out one by using one and notice if the topic persists. different than that, it would desire to be the ability unit (overheating or shorting), or something so straight forward as a defective power twine or power change.
