Without a nuclear Israel in the middle east, would peace be more likely? Saudi Arabia boycotted us by witholding oil in 1973 in Israel's war against Egypt. Would they do it again and cause $6 a gallon gasoline?
Why do we support Israel?
What do we get from them?

Apparently only jews/Israelis answer my questions. Are you a bit too defensive? Afraid I might be onto something?

Please don't use the arguement that God chose the jews and will always protect them. He must have decided to take time off during WWII if that argument is valid.
God does not choose one group over another.

It could be a step in the right direction. Unconditional, blind support doesn't do any good.
I've been asking those last two questions myself.

Well, I am gonna have to say no. Mainly because Israel didn't always have nuclear capabilities yet there was still conflict in the middle east as well as the rest of the world. The conflicts with Israel and its neighbors is not because they have nuclear weapons. It is a timeless conflict that is deep rooted in religion and culture.
Why do we support Israel? Well, many reasons I suppose. Israel is has been one of our allies for decades. Also, Israel is located in between historic enemies. Than there are the events during WWII. Than there are the economic and trade agreements the US has with Israel. And lets not forget the religious ties of Christianity and Judaism.
As far as what we get from Israel, well I honestly don't know all that we get from Israel. Israel does have a lot of economic influence in many regions of the world. What some people don't realize is that there are many countries who support Israel just as much as the US does.
So, if the US dropped its support for Israel there would still be conflict. Israel would still have conflict with its neighbors and terrorist will still have a reason to terrorize.
I hope this helps.

For those not paying attention...Israel has long been a US ally in the Middle East. We support Israel primarily because we are a Nation founded on Judaic and Christian beliefs. Realize that there are more Jews in the US than there are in Israel. We support Israel, much for the same reasons we support Kuwait, Aphganistan and Iraq. We need a presence in the Middle East because of US interests and to stabilize an area of the globe we consider to be particularly volatile with the Islamic culture teaching Death to the Infidels. I don't understand why Islam is so intent on destroying Israel. It's the only part of the area that doesn't have oil. God gave the Arabs the oil and made the Jews cut off their foreskin, so even though the Jews consider themselves the chosen people of God, they got the short end of the deal to start with.

No it would not.
Do not imagine that Islamist extremists would stop their efforts at world conquest after succeeding with Israel. Their demands would only become greater, their attacks bolder.
Israel is the only fully democratic government in the region. Iraq is still struggling. If Israel were to disappear, chaos would be the result. Small as it is, it is nevertheless a civilizing influence in the region.

Not at this point. Isreal has 200 nukes and would use them. Unfortunately America paid for them.
What would bring peace to that area is for the USA threaten to stop funding Isreal. 1/3 of our foreign aid goes to that tiny nation of 6 million.
Without our money she would collaspe. But since she controls key senators that will never happen.

Exactly the opposite would occur. The bible says about the Jews, I will bless them that bless you and I will curse them that curse you. God doesn't lie.
