No liberal called for his firing. Sharpton told Imus he should resign. But I don't remember him or any other liberal say he should be fired.
Saturday I heard on the news that Obama was returning money from Rap producer lobbyists. I don't know why the 'hang out' with the same people. Why does Bush hang out with the Prince of Saudi Arabia who is making billions off this war? The whole system is corrupt. Let's try to keep that into perspective. And, lets also keep into perspective the real issues, not the ones that the media find titalating.
BTW, Imus didn't get fired because of liberals. He got fired because the advertisers pulled their money from the show. Which means the network fired him because they wouldn't make any money off his show. He got what he deserved. But I think it is too bad that he got fired because it would have been a perfect opportunity to have the Rutgers team confront this a$$hole on air. it would have also been a great opportunity to really question rap lyrics and the rap industry and the excuses it gives to call women b*tches and Ho's. It's obviously a missed opportunity that needs addressing in the worst way.

I read the article three times and never once did anyone call for Imus to be fired.
I am an Independent who not voted a straight ticket in an election in almost 20 years of voting, and fully support free speech for everyone. No matter how juvenile.
Imus was fired because his show lost sponsors, that is the only reason. Money!
Money is always the reason when it comes to the entertainment industry.

What Imus said was wrong, however doesn't freedom of speech also include the right to offend?
Since the one Rutgers player said she was scarred for life, I would like to review what songs they have on their IPODS and CD's that they use. I am sure that a majority of the rap songs that they listen to use the word "ho" in every one. So give me a break on the offended and scarred for life stuff.
Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, etc. all called for Imus to be fired, however that is the pot calling the kettle black. Both of them have used racists remarks and have gotten a pass on this. So what a bunch of hypocrites.

Good point. What I don't understand is why did the basketball team and coach and every African American supposed leader empower people like Imus by making such a big deal out of the issue. When he made the comments it was heard by a few hundred thousand people who think like him. A mere pittance of the population. As soon as the coach stood up and made a big deal about the comments it became the story. If she would have stood up and stated "who cares what the irrelevant little old fart said it doesn't make one bit of difference as to who we are" she would have been the story, not him.

The Democrats had nothing to do with Imus being fired. He was fired by CBS, a major corporation that supports Republicans. Imus was the architect of his own demise.

That is the perfect example of Democratic hypocrisy. It is racist to fire Don Imus for calling a black girl(s) a ho on the radio when black singers do it everyday. I read an interview with Snoop Dogg, and he said it is wrong to say things like Don said, however if you sing about it, then it is just fine. Democrats seem to want only what is best for themselves and have no interest in the public's rights. Like a certain outspoken liberal who calls for the banning of firearms, yet has bodyguards with automatic weapons.

For starts, I'm a DEM and I didn't call for Imus to be fired. I think Sharpton and Jessie Jackson are milkin' this for all they can. These 2 nitwits are constantly looking for a free ride and "special " treatment for afro americans. Sharpton and Jessie Jackson made alot of people even more leary of having anything to do with afro americans. What Imus said was nothing compared to the Rap and hip-hop artists vulgar, racist, anti-women's lyrics. I notice Jessie Jackson obviously sidestepped the question to him about that on CNN. anti-pol…your "democrats" part of your question didn't work.

The black leaders are mad and want black rappers to give up the type of talk for the pattern actuality. some human beings think of its alright to talk like lmus did, this became right into a suitable occasion why black rappers would desire to give up. some human beings determine in the event that they might do it, placed there very own human beings down, so can we.even though, i individually do no longer think of that became into precise what he stated, why they the place teenagers enjoying ball, no longer in a rap video or performing like Ho's in one. They the place teenagers enjoying a interest. some grown guy did no longer have the appropriate to place them down like that. definite rappers say it all the time, yet they do no longer propose harmless teenagers enjoying a interest, there conversing approximately Ho's in a rap video or hood rats. i think some human beings have plenty to be taught.
