i love how people are so obsessed with the punk/not punk thing 30yrs later. It's one of the most ridiculous arguments and it's stupid because it doesn't matter at the end of the day. these kids with their labels. As if everything could be black or white. AND then they talk about bands like green day selling out and putting out sh!tty albums but the clash and the sex pistols and ramones are okay. They were all on major labels, too they put out alot of crap. What's the difference? Any way back to the matter at hand.

Sorry, but Green Day are corporate hacks....Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life) and concept albums is not the stuff of a punk band. If you want TRUE punk music, check out The Angry Samoans. They were one of the forerunners of the California punk scene. Another band to check out is Operation Ivy.

Try anything from The Clash. Especially London Calling and Combat Rock. As well give a listen to the Violent Femmes self titled album.
