With BBT, your temperture goes up with ovulation and stays up until you start your next cycle. If you are pregnant, it will continue to stay up, if you aren't it goes back down and you start your period.

So if I understand your question correctly, your temperature will stay up regardless of whether you are pregnant or not, and only go down at the beginning of your next period if you are not pregnant.

When charting, your bbt (basal body temperature) will increase after ovulation. It will stay above your coverline until just before or just after your period starts unless you are pregnant. 18 days of high temps means pregnancy 99.9% of the time.

Hope that this helps - Good luck!!!

Usually, if you get pregnant, your basal body temperature will stay up about a degree until you're about eight weeks along. That was my experience, anyways.
