IF YOU GO TO A BARNES AND NOBLE OR BORDERS THEY HAVE BABY NAME BOOKS. THEY HAVE SO MANY OF THEM, THAT YOU CAN JUST GRAB A FEW AND READ THROUGH THEM WHILE YOUR THERE.
THE GOOD THING ABOUT SOME OF THOSE BOOKS IS THAT SOME WILL GIVE ALTERNATE SPELLINGS OF ONE NAME, SO THAT YOU CAN GIVE THE UNIQUENESS THAT WAY.

No one should pick the name but you. Here's a suggestion that someone gave me. I am not sure if you are married or not but if you are then print out a list of baby girl names. (Do a search and there are websites that give you every name known to man.) Make a copy and give one to your husband. Each of you cross off every name that you don't want. Then combine the names left into one list and wait a few days and do the same thing again. Eventually you should be down to just a few names that won't seem so overwelming. Now if it's just you picking the name then do the same thing but wait and extra day and relook at the names that you have't crossed off yet and repeat what you did before. Just becareful about nicknames and what initials could spell with the full name. This will be her name for the rest of her life. There are very beautiful unique names out there but it may drive her crazy if no one can pronounce it or if she has to spell it all the time.

Maybe you could try narrowing down a name by choosing what culture/ethnicity you want it from first (ie Egyptian, Native American, French, Irish, Hawiian etc...) Then look for names that are pretty and have a meaning that you like. Anyone can flip through a book and say "Alice looks like a nice name, I could pair it with Jane" but what do the names mean to you? Nothing, you just picked them out becuase they sounded "cute". Go for something that would be cute for a kid, suitable for an adult and that has a meaning. I am many different ethnicities and with my husband combined our child will be 8 ethinicities, so we are going to choose one of the more unique ones.

Tyanna for a girl, it means princess.
For a boy I like Carson my husband likes the name ' Llewellyn which is an old Welsh prince.
I had a friend at school called Timerie pronounced Timmery.
I also like 2 names that were in Home and Away a few years back,
Gypsy and Tiegan

My Mom kept bugging me about choosing a name. That drove me nuts! I bought baby name books and went through them, I still could not think of anything. Then one day a couple of names just popped into my head, names that I really never thought of but liked. I know it sounds kind of weird, but maybe it will happen to you. I was not even thinking about names when it happened.
Goodluck :-)

I liked the naming section in the book Freakanomics. I think they have excerpts if you search on that on the web too. Lots of interesting ways to think about names.

I wouldn't rush if I were you, the right name will come to you in time, you'll just hear someone's name one day and think that it sounds lovely.
In the UK I think you have six weeks once the baby's born to register it's name. You might need to wait until she's born to see which name fits her.
