I had an abortion about 5 weeks ago, I was almost 11 weeks along, I was in so much pain afterwards, like menstrual cramping but it wasn't cramping it was SEVERE PAINm, it was so intense I was crying, and about a week and a half ago I started the intense pain again and I bled for about 2 days, the doctors said I should expect my next period in about 4-6 weeks , it's been about 5 and im freakin out i keep thinkin I won't get my period and I won't be able to have children in the future, the abortion went well. no infections, not too much bleeding just severe pain, when I went for my check up two weeks after the procedure the doctor gave me a pelvic exam and a preg. test, the pelvic exam was fine, and I wasn't pregnant, soo im really concerned, are my chances of getting pregnant the same as it was when i did get pregnant since the abortion went well?

I am very sorry that you are experiencing such pain. I'm talking about the emotional pain of wondering if you will be able to have children or not.
I think that you will be able to have children. The experience is very new right now. Please take it easy and try to just feel "normal" again. I know many women who have had this procedure and all of them have healthy children now.
It will be okay.

Sorry to hear about the terrible pain.
The more worried/stressed you are and after your body being through that type of stress, the longer it may take for your period to come back. Don't forget - everyone is different. Some may take 4 weeks, some may take 10.
So - deep breath in - slow down the stress levels if you can and your period will come back in its own good time. It is allowed to have a little time out after it has been through a all those changes associated with the abortion.
BTW - your surgeon or gynaecologist is the best person to ask about chances of getting pregnant in the future.
If the operation was a sucess with no complications...then you ought to be fine. I know this because I work as a nurse in operating rooms doing terminations and really there is not too much damage a surgeon can do during the operation which could cause serious damage. It is straight forward, fast and non-dangerous....
You'll be fine :)
ps don't listen to those people's opinions on abortion. They have no right to inflict their opinions (and jump to conclusions) in a friendly discussion space like this. It is called: "Your Answer" for a reason....not "Your Personal Opinion which may offend"

You won't have any problems in the future provided the procedure was done by a qualified medical professional and there were no complications. Be sure to follow up with your doctors if you're concerned, they may prescribe a form of birth control to regulate your periods and get you back "on schedule". Your chances of being able to conceive in the future should not have changed at all, but again, talking to your doctor is really the best way to calm your fears and ensure that you're taking proper care of your health.

Of course your chance of getting pregnant will be the same but hopefully the next time you have sex you will use protection. Have you considered getting yourself on some type of consistent birth control so that you don't have to go through this again? Don't you feel terrible that you had to do that to begin with? Don't get me wrong - I had an abortion years ago but I still live with the pain that I killed my own baby just because I was stupid enough to have unprotected sex with a man I barely knew. If you don't yet feel the mental anguish you will soon and it won't ever go away. I wish you the best of luck!

Ask a doctor. There is no way anyone here can diagnose you without professional expertise and the ability to examine you in person. It is possible that an abortion could affect your ability to have children in the future, but it is not necessarily the case. In fact, it is unlikely, but you really never know. It depends on way too many factors to rely on the quacks here. Call your doctor and pay them a visit! Good luck!

It takes time to get back to normal, no matter how the pregnancy ended. Give yourself some time, relax, treat yourself well, and you will be back to normal in no time. It is possible that your body will have a slightly different "schedule" since you have been pregnant; it simply takes time to re-establish the hormonal cycle.

You should be back to normal and able to be pregnant again, but ask your doctor to make sure.

um...just stating my opinion, abortions are wrong. i mean, you get one, then you're all depressed about it, and plus, it's killing a baby! i know it would've been hard, but could you have considered adoption?
sorry if i came on a little strong, but...
i think if you had an abortion already, why would you be worried about being able to get pregnant again? i mean, if you got an abortion, it obviously means you didn't want the poor baby...?
