I'm guessing from the way you stated your question that you are a younger reader. It would be helpful if you told us your reading level and the subject matters you find interesting, or any titles/authors you have liked in the past.
Many people like many different types of books, so a book one person might consider to be "a good book" might not be enjoyed by another person. This is why it is helpful to give more information about the kinds of things you like when you read.
Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery is the first book in a good series about an orphan girl who gets adopted.
Tamora Pierce writes good fantasies for teens featuring strong female characters.
The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis is also an excellent fantasy series.
The Princess Diaries series by Meg Cabot is light and very popular for girls.
The Alex Rider series by Horowitz is a popular choice for boys, and girls who like more action-oriented stories, featuring a teenage "James Bond" type.

I read books by Frank Perreti, if you like mystery, if not try K. A. Applegate, or maybe just some love story, Try Lawerence. These writers are my favorites thus far.
