I recently replaced the motor coupling by laying washer on its back. Could that have gotten water in the water level switch or valve and ruined it?

I think by turning it on its back, water may have gone up the pressure tube and damaged electrical parts.

This washer doesn't have a float; it has a vacuum tube.
