What does the song " not ready to make nice" suppose to be sang to? the president? and what did they say to the president that they got in a huge fight about ?

It came about because of the statment the lead singer (Natalie) made when she said that the group is ashamed that the President is from Texas. What irked people is that they were criticising the President on foreign soil while the country was at war. After the comment their music was banned from some radio stations, people threw out their albums in protest. People boycotted the dixie chicks. They were sent hate mail and death threats because of what they said which they saw as an freedom of Speech.
Three years after the girls returned with "not ready to make nice" which addressed the controvery head on with lyrics like:

I’m still mad as hell and I don’t have time to go 'round and 'round and 'round

I probably wouldn’t if I could

I think it's 2 everyone whos ticked at them. They went over seas and said they didn't support the President. In a public place. Good song, but I'm not crazy about the Dixie Chicks.

they didn't get into a fight,,the Chic's, while on tour made a negative comment , from the stage, regarding GW bush & the iraqi war,,,the comment bush made back was,,it's a free country to say whatever you please.
