I found a bunch of white balls growing in my garden under all the dirt and the mulch. They are white with little stringy roots. Sometimes they pop out of the ground and make a tubular like sponge with an orange top.
I want to look it up on the web but I don't have a name to go on.
Thanks for your help!
I appreciate all serious answers.

Sounds like a puff ball, in the club fungi, Basidiomycota. Just nature decomposing stuff. Nothing to worry about. Don't pop them, let nature take it's course.

It's called Artillery fungus. It has been headache for landscapers this season. It isn't dangerous;but it's very difficult to kill. We had it on our newly mulched bushes-they removed all of the mulch and put down plastic and then remulched after the sun had dried out the new mulch. That got rid of it.

they are mushroom/fungi. these feed on decomposing materials and when they decompose they add to the richness of your soil. if you have them in a garden, however, chances are you're keeping the soil too wet.

rather than poison them, why not just rake them away? and work on good garden hygiene.
