He misquoted a study by the Max Planck Institute about solar activity - falsely claiming it said the sun was the cause of global warming.

LIMBAUGH: "The Truth About Global Warming. Global warming has finally been explained: the earth is getting hotter because the sun is burning more brightly than at any time during the past 1,000 years, according to new research."

In fact the Max Planck Institute said "researchers at the MPS have shown that the Sun can be responsible for, at most, only a small part of the warming over the last 20-30 years" and, "the Earth's temperature has risen dramatically in the last 30 years while the solar brightness has not appreciably increased in this time"

Why do cons listen to this dishonest windbag, and then parrot his nonsense? Makes you wonder what else he and the dittoheads are lying about eh?

To everyone who thinks that global warming is an A) myth or B) not that bad, I just have one question, what if you're wrong? what if it is real and the inability to scrape up enough foresight to see it coming, and leaves a devastated world. What are you going to tell you're children or grandchildren who are now living on that devastated world when they ask you why you knew there was a problem and did nothing. Are you going to tell them " well Al Gore used a lot of electricity in his house", or maybe " well the movie stars who had private jets said we should conserve energy, but they were being hypocritical so we didn't listen." Why is reducing pollution such a god awful thing to some people, this is the question I have. Also precisely when did Rush Limbaugh become a climatologist?, he a political hack with nothing to warrant him making any statement about this subject, except for his microphone and his seriously slanted agenda.

Rush does not lie. He is right 99% of the time. I looked at the graph which shows the divergence of temp versus soar brightness. It proves nothing in such a short period of time. Look at the graph over thousands of years and you will come to a different conclusion. Google "The Great Global Warming Swindle" and you will see such a graph that correlated the solar activity (not just brightness) with rise in earth temperatures. Brightness alone is misleading.

I think you use selective listening when someone says something you disagree with. Information as far back as 2003 supports the fact that most of global warming is cosmic rather than local.

Cosmic Influence on Climate

In new research published in GSA Today, a publication of the Geological Society of America, researchers Nir Shahiv and Jan Veizer conclude that cosmic rays emanating from dying stars account for 75 percent of the change in the Earth?s climate over the past 500 million years. This means that carbon dioxide accounts for much less of the recent mild warming trend than commonly postulated.

The theory is that cosmic rays increase the number of charged particles in the atmosphere, which then leads to the formation of more low-level clouds that cool the atmosphere. Shaviv and Veizer have put together a model that looks at the interaction of cosmic rays with historical climate data.

The researchers were able to place an upper limit on the role of CO2 that translates to a temperature increase of about 0.75? C. associated with a doubling of CO2. This is about one-third the amount of radiative forcing assumed in most general circulation models. The findings are also consistent with the suggestion that much of the warming seen over the last century is associated with increased solar activity rather than greenhouse gases. (Nature, July 8).

it is astonishing.

as far as i can tell, cons believe what they do out of spite for the hippies that used to exist in the usa in the 1960's.

cons don't actually believe anything - all they really know is that a given position pisses off liberal, dems and inde's.

what i'm saying is that cons believe what they believe, say what they say and vote the way they do out of spite for others.

leave it to drug-addled wind bags like jethro limbaugh to ride this to fame and forture.

if you listen to limbaugh, every issue, every problem and everything that is wrong in the whole world - is due to american liberals.

that simply doesn't make sense on any level.

but since howard stern was driven off the public airwaves, limbaugh is the biggest syndicated talk show host in the nation.

that's what con political and business leaders want our nation to look like - funny guys like stern are gone and limbaugh gets interviews with the vice president...

What is scary, is that your idiot president listens to him. And for the first answerer, global warming is not being caused by the sun burning hotter. Its caused by too much greenhouse gasses and pollution in the air. sell your gas guzzler and get a bicycle

I like how the focus isnt on whether or not global warming is occuring which was disputed in the not too distant past by these guys but now its who or what is to blame. Not how can I help or what can be done.

Argle: as much as it pains me to agree with your politics I find myself in a quandary. I despise Rush. From the sound of his voice to the double standard name calling and childish behavior. He is in fact a bloviating windbag.

Sure glad you showed your bias on your references. Number one reason of global warming in earths natural events. Number 9 on the list is man made. It would be nice and try and resolve a issue in this country today without seeing political spin on both sides. if we just focused on alternative energy's and reducing our need on foreign oil imports many of today's issues would be resolved.

Why do people insist Global Warming is a lie and a myth when lots and lots of scientists are agreeing upon it?

Considering the UN put out two studies so far confirming the issue.....*shrugs* Can't agrue with idiots, but sometimes its fun to try. lol
