The draft is a last resort measure, with sure political ramifications for anyone associated with it. People who have more money have more swing in politics, like it or not. These people represent the movers and shakers in washington, so assuring them that there will be no draft is more "important" politically than making the same speech in the "hood", which is where the draft would likely target anyway.

Because he wants to make sure that his staunchest supporters stay that way. If there is a draft, the sons and daughters of even wealthy people would have to serve in the military. He would be sending his cronies' children to die in Iraq and Afghanistan which they would not like at all.

Why would he need a draft? He's just recycling the troops, making their tour of duty longer. I wonder how many times he's going to make the same people "do their duty" in Iraq while he is in a safe, comfortable place. I sure don't see him, cheney, or any of their family members over there.

What do you want from the boy king and his grumpy old man (Chaney) . One was drunk in Alabama while he was suppose to be in the national guard and other had 5 deferments and stated with his usual arrogance " I had better thing to do with my time"

If anybody needs to be convinced, it's the poor. After all, it's usually their kids who end up serving.
