alot of companies try to use classic names to sell new cars, even if the car is hardly related. IE dodge charger. the new chargers are 4 doors, even though the orignal charger was 2 doors. the original novas were 2 doors, but in the 80s they made 4 door hatchback novas. The mini cooper is another great example. The new car has absolutely no connection to the original mini. Its nearly 2000lbs heavier, its 'feet' longer and taller.
Then you have cars like the corvette, that pretty much cause gm to loose money, but its an icon, so they dont want to stop the production.
**EDIT**
I thought of another one. YOu have cars like the honda civic that was a cheap economy car, but with the flood of young tuners buying them, they started offering many more upgraded factory options.. example... the original civics had 13" wheels, tuners want bigger wheels cause they look better.. the 07 civic has 17 wheels stock.
and i thought of another one.
Retro styled cars.
I dont know if this fits with my direction here, but there are many cars that have a retro styling.
Examples-Chevy SSR, Plymouth Prowler, Chevy HHR, obviously the mustang, then you have special editions that honor the originals: 50th anniversary corvette, Mustang California(im just listing cars available in america, because if we go into european/german/russian cars, you probably havent heard of any of them)
