like a bomb shelter. It works both ways. But moreso to keep others out.

I definitely have walls around my heart, it's to keep some people out... I actually just told my ex bf that I have a wall up, we are friends now so I have to keep it really high so I won't allow myself to get close... I want to find the person I can have no walls with

Great big, reinforced with titanium, walls.
LOL
I think everybody (adults) has some kind of wall around their heart. It could be just beginning...just a couple of bricks...without them even knowing.
If they're lucky, it'll stay that way.
If they're not lucky (like me), it's a pretty big wall, and they'll wonder how the h3ll anybody could ever break it down. The exception to this, is, of course, family & friends.
I have to say, though, I've never heard of a wall around your heart to keep people in.

I have had walls around my heart to keep people out. I let someone new in 2 months ago and found he wasn't worth it.
I will persevere. I will continue my quest to find the right person.
Wish me luck.

For significant others I did have. Then, I let him in, trusted unconditionally, and tore down the walls. He recently broke my heart , and the walls are currently being rebuilt stronger than ever. Next time, it will be on my terms.

Today I have a literal fort built there. We lost a dear friend that was victim to a horrible crime. Today's wall is simply to keep it together because right now it is in pieces.
