Contrary to the previous incorrect answers, a hard drive is an array of hard disks. In other words, a number of hard disks are contained within a case making up a hard drive.

Firstly, Disk is a storage device. Drive is a device by which data is written into a storage device. Secondly, In relation to a HDD. Hard Disk is a magnetic material coated disk (platter/s). Hard Drive is a device for storing data into a Hard Disk. Here the Drive means a moving actuator arm with magnetic heads arranged on it to read and write data to the Hard Disk surface. I don't think there is a difference. I've seen them called Hard Disk Drives. I believe they are the same thing.

There is a difference between a hard disk and a hard drive. The hard disk is a round, metal platter in the hard drive of the computer...(The disk is inside of the drive). A HDD is what make the hard disk work.

What is a hard disk/hard drive?

Definition:
The hard disk is a round, metal platter in the hard drive of the computer; it stores large amounts of information.

Explanation:
The hard disk has a magnetic coating. It is sealed into the hard drive and often installed inside the computer where you can't see it.

A hard drive is the container that a hard disk is in, the thing you insert into your computer is the hard drive, the disc inside it that stores information by magnetism is the hard disk
