Okay, I don't know what category this would fall under. But okay this is the situation. My boyfriend lived in an apartment with his bestfriends and his bestfriend passed away this morning. My boyfriends name is not on the lease, so being that the only person on the less is no longer alive. How does that work, who pays the remainder of the lease, and what are the laws on that, since technically it is against the lease agreement to allow my boyfriend to live there with his name not on the lease anyway? Help some advice please....also is it normal for my boyfriend to not spend as much time with me after he has a bestfriend pass away? Thank you in advance.

A contracts is deemed to have been terminated when one or both of the parties dies and no provisions are made that it will be performed by the deceased's estate. In this case, since the primary lessee is dead, the tenancy is considered to be over. Your BF needs to re-sign a new lease with the landlord. BTW, it is not illegal to have a person living in a property and he is not named on the lease. It is POOR practice on the part of the landlord who should get everyone on the hook that is living in his property but nnot neccessarily against the law.

Grief affects people in different ways. If he lknew and lived with the deceased then it will take him time to get over that. Space and time are the only things you can offer to him to help him in this difficult period.

Lease dies with the person who signed it. Your BF needs to contact the landlord about signing a lease or look for a place to live

Legally, he can be asked and forced to leave.... but I would suggest starting a conversation with the landlord, as this is an exceptional situation.

Your boyfriend is in shock. I'd expect his behavior to be on somewhat erratic side.

He needs to call the Lessor and ask about it. And yes, he may be spending less time with you because he's grieving and trying to work out what happened.
