I mean unlike the whites in NYC and LA who are mostly tan-skinned and fake blondes, white people in Chicago are very white-skinned and are mostly natural blondes...why??
Could it be that most of the whites in Chicago descend from northern and central Europe while most whites in NYC and LA descend from southern Europe (like Spain, Italy and Greece)?
I really can't fetch that one out!

Chicagos anglo community has become more and more eastern european
While NY and La anglo is more central and southern europe.
Ahmed, I travel all over the United states and Chicago has the largest amount of Northern, central and eastern european population in the country. When they migrated here from Poland or Russia or the ukraine or lithuania, many of their families were in chicago already and chicago has become the eastern european melting pot of the united states. They came to chicago, because the weather reminds them of home, and its the cheapest big cold city in the country. Think Berlin, in germany!
Nyc has a larger latin and italian influence so although it does have your "paler" folks, they dont stand out like chicago. Ny has more of your typical europeans(british, spanish, italians, greeks, and darker skin types)
La has everything based on weather( large populations of mexicans, persians, and whites. But the whites in La are more irish german american types rather than eastern europeans.
Chicago has some of the worst weather in the us, and with the large concentration of russians and poles, they do "glow" in the dark! and stand out.
If you think Chicago stands out, you should go to Salt Lake city, Utah and Boise, idaho. where 90 percent of the population is a shade of blone and even more white!

I've been to all three cities and I have absolutely no clue what you are talking about. There is plenty of diversity in each of the big 3 cities. For LA you could argue since it's hotter there more white people get tans but for NYC and Chicago they are practically similar climates.

I am going to guess because the sun doesn't shine like it does in LA. I live in Chicago and I'm pale white. I used to live in the South and was tanned, but not anymore.
Most of the "whites" here are from Poland and other parts of central/western Europe.

Well, I don't know what "white" white people are, but you're right about most of the inhabitants of the midwest being from eastern Europe. Lots of Poles, Czechs, German, Nordic, etc. But Chicago has every nationality of white person. If we didn't we wouldn't have a Greektown, a Taylor street with all of it's authentic Italian restaurants, etc.
Don't know why the Poles, Czechs, etc. migrated here, but they did.

As a New Yorker whose been to Chi town many times, I have to say the weather is not similar. It's way colder. I think the prolonged cold weather and lack of sun makes them appear "whiter" to you. As an African American I have to say I've never noticed that much difference.
