Yes, profanity does make me feel uncomfortable ... but even WORSE it makes me wonder about the 'education and intelligence' of the person who is using the profanity so 'broadly' ... I don't know if the person using is 'thinks it's cool to swear' or exactly WHAT is 'going on' ... but I do know that if we could 'take the profanity out of the language' we could 'get more real work done' on a 'higher intellectual plane' ... and THAT is all I 'need to think about' ... and by the way ...

Personally I do feel embarrassed especially out in social situations. I've been mortified by the language. Almost to the point I had to leave.
Believe me I have a few choice words, but there is a time and place for everything! Definitely not a regular part of my vocabulary.

Profanity used in normal conversation isn't a confidence builder for me in having a logical, adult conversation with someone. So, no, lots of profanity to me signals that our conversation will be more like a seventh grade level than what I am looking for.

I use a lot of profanity, but there are some places you know you just shouldn't use it. Just tell them that you don't feel comfortable around that language and would appreciate it if they would stop using it so often.

I had a history teacher who said it best

"Profanity is the feeble mind's attempt to express it's self".

he would say that all the time...I had the worst mouth on me until I took his class...and it depends on what is being said and who it is being said about as to if it would make me uncomforatble.

Tell them that you are uncomfortable with them using profanity so much and ask them to stop. If they don't, stop hanging out with them. Don't worry, you aren't the only one it makes uncomfortable, I don't like it either.

buy them a dictionary and no profanity does not bother me, except when it is unnecessarily used(in excess)
