Hurricane season is June 1 - November 30, but only because those are the more-likely times a hurricane can develop. Hurricanes and/or tornadoes can develop at any time.

Tornadoes are caused by competing fronts (warm and cold) colliding together, and have occurred in every state and in every month of the year.

If you're visiting the attractions in Florida, they all have disaster evacuation plans in place. As a former Disney employee, I once helped visitors to the Magic Kingdom move downstairs into the tunnels below the Magic Kingdom when a tornado touched down nearby.

I wouldn't avoid a trip to Florida based on that any more than I would avoid a trip to California based on the possibility of an earthquake, or a trip to New York based on the possibility of a snowstorm.

Yes, but mid June should be OK. Hurricane season begins later in the summer. (August I think?) Tornadoes have a wider range but Florida is not especially prone to them. Mid June should be an OK time. Hopefully the weather will cooperate.

I think sometime in August it gets pretty close to hurricane season. There are times when they come earlier but you shouldn't have a problem in June. The weather is still pretty nice and its not as hot and humid as it is in the later months of Summer. You should be ok.

You can alwasy check with the Farmer's Almanac and see what's been predicted for this year to get a rough idea. I think there is a website with that information now.
