colors where never invented, they are the the reflection of ultaviolet light which the human eye can register. White are all colors combined and black is the absence of colors.
Who named them? that is impossible to say, one can only speculate. When colors started to make a difference in the human culture the names where invented, as all words are. For example, 200 years ago, noone had a clue what an atom was, yet they still existed didn't they? When we need a word we come up with one, hence it is not possible to tell who first though of the names for colors, it was simply too long ago.

Color was not invented. It's just the way our eyes respond to different wavelengths of electromagnetic radiation. Every language has its own names for the colors so you can't give any one person credit.
P.S. Color is not spelled with a "u" in the US

Im not quite sure, but if you speak English, colour is spelt COLOUR!
Gene: In my point of view - as the US is an English speaking country, our English words should be spelt correctly, in the English way. No offence to anyone but it just bugs me.
