try the Chinese Astrology calendar. That has been more accurate than the heartrate predictor. I have done the astrology calendar at least 6 times and every time has been right. http://americanbaby.com/ab/story.jhtml?storyid=/templatedata/ab/story/data/11106.xml

The myth is that if it's fast it's a girl. Fast is considered to be in the 150's or 160's. A baby's heartbeat is usually over 120 by the way. This was true for my daughter. Her heartbeat was always around 160. My doctor told me it's a myth though and it has to do with how active the baby is when you listen to it.

Myth. My Dr explained to me that the baby's heart rate changes by the second while in utero, so one second it could be 150, the next 135, etc. When your Dr said 150, that was an average. And using that as gender prediction is an old wives tale, like "if you crave sweet things its a girl, salty its a boy, etc". Just wait for your Ultrasound if you want to find out!

Well first of all your M-I-L is wrong. The wives tale is Higher (150+) its a girl, Lower (-150) its a boy. I have to say for my 4 pregnancies it was correct. My son's HR are about 135-140 and my daughters were about 155-165. But believe what you want. :)

It's totally a myth. Anything under 120 is generally considered a problem once you get past nine weeks or so, anyway! So by your mom's reasoning, almost all the babies born would be boys!

This is just a myth, there is not truth in it at all, and not medically proven. They also say that if you have heartburn during pregnancy that your baby will be born with lots of hair, which is not true because 70 % of all pregnant woman suffer from heartburn because the baby pushes against the stomach.

It's an old wives tale, but it's true - at least it was for all 3 of my kids.
If it's high - it's a girl like 140 or above.
If it's low - it's a boy - like 140 or under.
It's not a medical fact and she's got it backwards anyways.
