Your task is to find out about the 3 ways a star can end (do not spend time researching supernovae)

you must the produce resources (diagrams, models, summaries of important points, worksheets etc) which will help you to teach others in your group about stellar death.

You will need to include explanations of the following ideas and terms
- white dwarf
- neutron star
- black hole
- what these different objects will become/do

you will need to use ideas about energy and force in your explanations.

I looks at this sheet and i think i know a bit but im not sure on any of it, anything useful like links to website explanations of answers would be lovely and thank you in advance for your help.

There are 3 possible ends to a star, and each depends on the amount of mass is present... small stars, our sun included, will one day exhaust their fuel - in our sun's case, it's hydrogen. When it's gone, the star will swell up into a red giant... Mercury, Venus, and Earth will be destroyed. After this phase, it will shrink again, down to a white dwarf, and it'll eventually cool to be black.
For stars 3 to 8 solar masses and maybe a little larger, the fusion process of turning hydrogen into helium might exist at the same time as a the next process - turning helium into carbon. Large stars can have several 'power layers' - the outer one fusing hydrogen, the next one fusing helium, the one inside of that fusing carbon, etc - up to Iron.... After a star has produced Iron in it's core, it cannot fuse iron into heavier elements **and** release energy. Fusing iron REQUIRES more energy than is released. So... once the fuel has exhausted, the star collapses - almost instantaneously. All stars fight gravity - their surface is maintained by the energy of the fusion reactions going on inside; once the reaction stops - there's nothing to fight the enormous gravity, and it collapses. Well, the collapse triggers incredible amounts of heat, and compresses the core. There's an explosion - a supernova, which blows off the outer layers of the star, and compresses the core even further. The explosion is so violent, that the electrons and the protons of the atoms in the star compress into each other - forming a mass of nothing but neutrons. It's so dense, that a teaspoon of this material weighs as much as Mt. Everest. This resulting mass is called a neutron star - usually 6 to 12 miles in diameter, and spinning very rapidly. (Up to 100 times a second, in some cases.) If the star had any spin to it, then, like an iceskater pulling her arms in during a spin, that spin increases in velocity. Now, imagine a star rotating once a month - at more than a million miles in diameter - suddenly, that diameter is only 12 miles - the spin increases to many times per second.

The last case, a black hole, is *also* the result of a supernova. The events are the same, but if there is enough mass present, then the collapse of the star doesnt' stop at the neutron star stage - it continues to compress, until normal space can't 'support' it anymore. The mass becomes a pinpoint in space - so much mass in such a small volume, that the escape velocity close enough to it is greater than the speed of light. The mass itself cannot "exist" in our universe, and the only thing left is it's enormous gravitation, which continues to draw matter in.

Parenting - or loss of a super style of the time. this is a shame that little each physique is compelled into those issues - no longer all of them are of direction, yet nonetheless. Britney is a primary occasion of Mummy residing her objectives via her daughter(s) and them taking the discomfort afterwards. Then there is the reality that at that age each physique is very impressionable and face a super style of peer stress - with out the affection and help of acquaintances and kinfolk, they sense they have not have been given the rest. uk Examples, nicely i do no longer understand in case you will count quantity them yet Amy WInehouse and Pete Doherty are a multitude. newborn stars clever - i do no longer think of we even have newborn stars the way the U. S. does. the single's i'm able to think of of - say Billie Piper, all look ok, yet i think of they get a extra valuable general coaching at point college here than interior the U. S.. uncertain nonetheless.

Try your science book. If that doesn't help, go to wikipedia and look up all the terms you have in front of you.
