The Valley of the Kings certainly is fascinating! The discovery of Tutankamen's tomb, after everyone thought no more tombs would be found is one of the epic stories of archeology. Then the recent discovery of KV5 really shook the archeological world.

There is also a Valley of the Queens, though we don't hear as much about that. I'm hoping the tomb of Nerertiti is found.

The Valley of the Kings is on the west bank of the Nile at Luxor and is where the Pharoahs were buried. The tombs are very large dug into the hillside and highly decorated.
Several tombs are open to the public but if you go then go early in the morning and make sure you take water. By 11 am the heat is unbearable.

The Valley of the Kings is like a cemetery but egyptian style. Pharohs are buried there and most we think we have uncovered but we also predict there to be more. If you have ever heard of King Tut we found him there. It was a treasure chest for grave robers in ancient times. It was like this find a tomb ransack it and get out. Robers even took the mummies for firewood..

tutanchamon's chamber is not the niciest of all in the valley there are many nicer, problem is you have to buy ticket for every three chambers you want to visit. take a light with you and don't be scared, for a small baksish you can make photos

don't buy anything at the bus stop under the valley of kings, those things are expensive, you will get them in cairo or alexandria far cheaper. and dont pay in dollars, use libras all the time or you 'll get cheated.

I was the preferred burial location for the Pharoahs, some relatives and high ranking officials during the days of the Middle Kingdom.
